Monsanto to pursue divestiture of POSILAC

Interesting... Is Monsanto feeling the heat from farmers, people in the medical field, consumer groups, and state attorney generals who know this product is dangerous? Or are they simply looking to do this to invest more in their continuing effort to control the entire seed market of the world and the pesticides that are toxifying it? Personally, I think they are feeling some heat regarding the labelling of products, and people are becoming more informed as to what they buy. People are becoming aware and don't want antibiotics and pus in their milk, nor an added injection of IGF-1 everytime they pour a glass of it. Perhaps the next step will be to have it banned altogether as it should be.

Perhaps it is a bit of both. At any rate, this is good news in and of itself, not least for the poor cows for whom distended and enlarged udders and teats must be very painful.

It should be banned. Monsanto's practices frighten the life out of me. The corporation controlls much too much of the worlds food production. North America needs to wake up and see how this corporation is doing to the family farm.

Ew, that picture... That looks really painful, and makes me glad I eat my cereal with organic milk!

The best way to feel the heat is to buy organic from nearby producers and check with them to make sure they are not part of this practice. To think that so many have been exposed to all this garbage for so many years literally and figuratively sickens me.

I've just given up on cow's milk completely. Organic soy or rice milk is all I use. Not only am I sure it's not coming from a stressed out or tortured animal, but it's so much easier for our bodies to digest. I've even switched to shredded rice cheese to put on pizzas and every time I make one for a friend they can't believe it's not "real" cheese.
Be careful with soy though, if it's not certified organic it's probably genetically modified. It's one of the biggest GM crops sold in the US.

Organic goat's milk and organic camel's milk are excellent for the health.

Hemp milk? It's healthy and legal as hemp cereal

"A growing number of makers of hemp milk -- they use seeds from Canada, where hemp grows legally -- tout the health benefits of other substances in the THC-free drink, which is selling legally and briskly across the country.

Cartons for Living Harvest Hempmilk (www.livingharvest.com), which you can find locally at East End Food Co-op and Whole Foods and other stores, brag about it as a "balanced source of omega-3 and -6" -- essential fatty acids -- as well as "naturally rich in essential nutrients" and quality protein.

Indeed, the nutrition facts breakdown for one cup (8 ounces) can make you feel as if you're hallucinating: 46 percent of your daily calcium and 43 percent of your phosphorus?

The beverage is fortified with other vitamins and minerals, including D2 (25 percent), B12 (25 percent) and riboflavin (31).

What it doesn't present is any allergic reactions for those who can't consume dairy, tree nuts or soy, and no cholesterol or cane sugar. The manufacturer says unlike soy protein, hemp protein doesn't contain high levels of enzyme inhibitors, phytates ("which can interfere with the proper assimilation of essential minerals") or oligosaccharides ("which cause flatulence and stomach distress").

Nor does it contain any THC, as the company guarantees that it contains "0.00 percent" THC.

    Plus, it comes in chocolate.

It's also available in vanilla and plain, in boxes that don't need refrigeration before opening. That's the case with another brand, Manitoba Harvest Hemp Bliss (www.manitobaharvest.com), which is organic, and which also is available at food and health stores in this region."

Great product! Of course it doesn't contain THC, there isn't the slightest trace of THC in hemp seeds, not even in skunk cannabis seeds. :)

I recall when back in the 80's when alar sprayed on apples caused quite a media rumble. Even though there are many more toxic chemicals, when mothers across the country found out that apples; which were synonymous with health "an apple a day keeps the doctor away", and other such references, the campaign to stop spaying those apples with alar was very successful.

This milk issue is reminding me of this same thing. Milk is also synonymous with health.

Monsanto sees this, and I think, is trying to avoid the heavy negative publicity; they don't want anything to stop them from steamrolling across our planet and taking control of our food.

And remember, it isn't just milk this is in... it's cheese, cream, ice cream, butter, other dairy products, processed foods that use milk, and beef.
Monsanto has poisoned our animals, our air, our land, our water, and our bodies.
