The GOP’s de facto slogan has become: “Real men don’t think things through.”

Republicans, once hailed as the “party of ideas,” have become the party of stupid.

Now, I don’t mean that G.O.P. politicians are, on average, any dumber than their Democratic counterparts. And I certainly don’t mean to question the often frightening smarts of Republican political operatives.

What I mean, instead, is that know-nothingism — the insistence that there are simple, brute-force, instant-gratification answers to every problem, and that there’s something effeminate and weak about anyone who suggests otherwise — has become the core of Republican policy and political strategy. The party’s de facto slogan has become: “Real men don’t think things through.”

...

Remember how the Iraq war was sold. The stuff about aluminum tubes and mushroom clouds was just window dressing. The main political argument was, “They attacked us, and we’re going to strike back” — and anyone who tried to point out that Saddam and Osama weren’t the same person was an effete snob who hated America, and probably looked French.

    • Well, I stand by my belief that conservatives are not as intelligent as liberals. As the new IQ tests for abilities in interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships will be considered into a persons intelligence, conservatives who consistently show the inability (or deliberate intention) to not consider how their actions will affect others shows that they may in fact be less intelligent. Even above as posted that Obama is a Marxist just shows how ignorant someone can be, or at least that they don't know the meanings of the words they use.

    • Stupidity has become an ever increasing problem in America. It seems that too many people in this country aren't willing to think for themselves. There are those who no longer check facts and make decisions based on logic, instead they rely on defensiveness. All the Republicans have to do is play on the fears of Americans and the foolish ones willing believe and follow. We've all been trained to believe what were told and most people are comfortable with that.

Let's take a look at this claim that Obama is a Marxist.

The first principle of Marxism listed on wikipedia is: "a belief that capitalism is based on the exploitation of workers by the owners of the means of production."

      From Obama's web site:
"I believe that America's free market has been the engine of America's great progress. It's created a prosperity that is the envy of the world. It's led to a standard of living unmatched in history. And it has provided great rewards to the innovators and risk-takers who have made America a beacon for science, and technology, and discovery…We are all in this together. From CEOs to shareholders, from financiers to factory workers, we all have a stake in each other's success because the more Americans prosper, the more America prospers."

Does that sound anti-capitalist to you?
