A Shelby County sheriff's deputy responded to Hayes' home after his wife found him on the floor near a treadmill inside his home.
Hayes was taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead at 2:08am.
Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department are continuing their investigation into Hayes' death, but they believe no foul play was involved.

Truly one of the most influential people responsible for at lot of great soul music of the sixties. I was in Memphis this past Feb. and visited the Stax Museum were his custom Cadillac is a permanent fixture. Last night (Saturday 9 August) I was thinking about the best concerts that I'd been to and the best single performance .........Isaac Hayes version of "Aint No Sunshine" in London in the 70s, Amazinfg saxophone. I spent an hour or two looking at Albums and looking for downloads of his music and thinking that I should update my collection. Then today I hear of his death. This is tragic .I wonder what made me think of him suddenly. Ain' t no sunshine when he's gone"
