"But we are not crazy," he told CNN's "Late Edition."
"We have no interest whatsoever in pursuing hostilities," he said.

How nice of them
-
Come on Russia, I'd be supporting you if you weren't doing this. You've already won this little war. The Georgians have been burning the homes of the South Ossetians, don't be like them.

why would Russia benefit from high gas prices
-
It will be intresting to see how this plays since Georgia is an ally of America and Oil is involved. I am sure Bush and Co. and his minions are involved in here. I smell oil and war and death and destruction. All the elements that Bush and Co. make money on. Russia may have had enough of this bullshit and is deciding to take Georgia back by invasion, sort of like America and Iraq. The only difference is Georgia is part of Russia.

Cheney's already making comments...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7552908.stm
If they use this as an excuse to pick a fight w/ Russia, we're in deeper shit than we already are, and I cannot even fathom the reading on a shit-scale anymore, we're fucked...

Footage I've seen in Gori showed a couple of appartment buildings with some exterior dam and some civilians with wounds but none of them critical looking the rest where legetimate millitary targets helping in the Georgian incursion into South Ossetia and the attack at sea was provoked by the Georgian ship. However, in Tskhinvali I have seen footage of copleatly destroued buildings and many dead in the streetsdue to a Georgian missile and artillary barrage on that civilian city. There are also disterbing acusations of Georgian soldiers opening fire on the Russian Peacekeepers without warning. Given these facks i cannot say i would have advised any differant action had this situation been say in Krosovo and the US were responding to a Serbian attack there. yes Russia would Insist that we not do more dam than was nessisary to quell any further Serb incurtion. I dont trust Russia it is a Dictatorship and i cannot abide dictators. However, it is my opinion that Georgia played right into this by trying to force this provence to join greater Georgia and in doing so ruined any chance there may have been of a reconciliation or agrrement.

2000 civilians dead in Tsinvali, most of Tsinhvali is in ruins. Georgians are crawling out of their skin to make it seem that the literally few civilian casualties they suffered are the big tragedy, while they are the ones who are being accused of GENOCIDE against Ossetians.
Moscow will agree to a ceace fire once Georgia agrees to a non-military solution to this. Georgian prez is a Bush puppet liar. He has been "offereing a cease fire" while his troops brought the civilian damage in Ossetia to 2000.
-
Let the "games" begin.
-
"BEIJING - President Bush on Monday sharply criticized Moscow's harsh military crackdown in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, saying the violence is unacceptable and Russia's response is disproportionate."
Hahahahahahahahahahahha.
Um, kettle? You're black.

Georgia started it, and they are still fighting Russia. Russia will cease fire when the "u.s." backed militias stop fighting Russia.
-
This whole thing makes me very sad. I hope my georgian friends are ok :(

It's not right to attack someone when they're already on their knees.
-
They need to eliminate there tension from one another. Russia's flexing their muscle to the world and this intimidation is not worth any of the lives that they're taking away.
-
Oil is not worth any of the lives either. I don't like the demographics of this...
-
check out the coincidence from this videogame's synopsis .....
Ghost Recon
Ghost Recon begins in 2008, with civil unrest in Russia. Ultra-nationalists have seized power in Russia, with plans to rebuild the government. Their first step is clandestine support of rebel factions in Georgia and the Baltic States. This is where the Ghosts come in: to silence the invasion. Armed with some of the most advanced weaponry in the world, the soldiers of the Ghost Recon force are covertly inserted into area of operations and given specific missions to curtail the rebel actions and overthrow their benefactors.

Oh man. I think I'm starting to see the seeds of an oil war...
-
I see war crimes being comitted in this war... probably by S.O forces to keep Russian hands clean just like they were the main backers of Serbs during the fiightings in the 90s that took thousands innocent lives. For Russia to decline, that right there says that they do not care for the innocent people that will get caught in the cross fire.
At least let the people leave!. -
Was Russia in S.O. under UN?
-
This is a sovereign nation and needs to be defended. I think we should help with the rebuilding. I also think we should send troops in to stop Russia.
However, our forces are spread a little thin right now.
-
Yes, I am anti-war and once you have been to war and taken fire you tend to take that stance. However, there needs to be a limit to what Russia should be allowed to do. If we don't rally Europe to assist in this endeavor though, we may truly become the official world police.
-
To be honest i think Georgia is the agressor here. Anyone disagree?
-
The hypocrisy in this situation is laughable. Georgia originally attacked a separatist area full of Russian citizens, and Russia defended said citizens. It was wrong to bomb Georgia's citizens in turn, but how can our president have the nerve to condemn Russia when he's done far worse?
