Girls who look better get treated better? No way!
-
If the "drab" girl had the personality of the "sexy" girl she would have done the same. "Drab" girl didn't try very hard. It wasn't looks, it was personality. Also, the "drab" girl was still sexier than 95% of all British women. You should of used a real "drab girl."
Lastly, since when is this supposed to be a surprise? Of course good looking people get treated better.
-
Great job! I wonder why you haven't asked any ladies. These give hardtime to every younger girl I guess ;) To be honest, with us - guys - it's the same thing. But that's not the point. Your video made me laugh. Thank you!

I agree with dabne, this experiment is not very honest because sexy girl also has a more sympathetic personality.
Also, there is a basic manipulation technique involved here. For instance, brad girl asks right away for a free service. While sexy girl asks for the service, gets yes as an answer, and then asks if she can get it for free. This is a subtitle difference in these two girls approach, and the latter it's a well known manipulation method.

You know what though, the experiment is slightly flawed because if you'll notice, she acts different when she's dressed up than if she's dressed plainly. When she looks super sexy, she's smiling at the people more, and she doesn't come right out and say "hey, give me something for free"... she plays them a little bit first and is generally more friendly towards them before suggesting that she'd like it for nothing. Maybe it's a confidence thing. When you're dressed up nice, you feel better so therefore you act nicer.
I'm definatly not saying that the sexy outfit does nothing... because it REALLY does something. Did you see how fast she got that taxi in that dress!? All she had to do was look at him and BAM he was on that curb in a hot second!

First off- The difference with the bus attempts is that you asked him if you can get on for free when you were the "unattractive" person and when you were the "attractive" person- you just walked on. If you were to just walk on when you were "unattractive" then you probably would have had the same reaction.
When you are talking to the taxi drivers, it's all how you present yourself with your confidence. Granted, the one taxi driver who let you go for free might have been having a good day so you cannot base that fully on your looks.
The ice-cream does not count. Unless you went to the exact same person, the guy you went to when you were "attractive" could of been having a good day also. He originally denied you and probably gave you food due to he didn't want any complications and to cause bad business .
Granted, females who are labeled as "sexy" or "more attractive" by society do end up getting small perks over "unattractive" ones however to say that they get all these things for free is just demeaning to females. It runs along with the stereotype that if girls "strut their stuff" they will get stuff for free. A stereotype that I am down right sick about. If the "unattractive" girl was to walk around with confidence then she could have gotten a few free things. Beauty is not everything!!
PLUS if no one else caught this-- she only talked to males. That does take into a huge account because the only reason why males give free stuff away is because they want to get into the "attractive" ones pants.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again- Society makes me sick.

this is so true in america as well. i have to say, the dolled up version looks great on you, but i prefer the "plain" version much better. the thing is when girls dress up "sexy", i think most men get the impression they are going to get lucky vs someone who is "plain" and conservative looking. nice video...

This is so true...Girls know this and use it to their advantage often....maybe not as blatant, but they know they will get favors based on their lookws,
-
Sure, the 'sexier' version of Carolyn got the freebies but as everyone else has pointed out, the 'drab' version had a personality to match and so people are less likely to give something for free.
This will however make for a very interesting experiment when I next go out! ;)

Very entertaining and funny! She's pretty both ways and sure, personality and flirtation changed when she was "dolled up", which certainly affects people. But it's an interesting example of how men react. Good thing she didn't do that experiment in the states, as her accent alone would have tainted the study...LOL.

I am going to consciously do this test, but I already knew what the outcome would be.

I posted this article from the economist a while back about the relationship between beauty and success...

Damn, I guess make-up is worth its weight in gold after all.
Of course good looks can get you farther in life, but only when dealing with certain people. Poor guys, I hate women who try to use their looks to get things.
Can being sexy make it easier on a woman financially? Well, I guess that depends on whether or not she's a gold digger.
I wonder whether this girl just exploits this for the sake of the pod or if she does this normally and just wanted to point out how blatant the favoritism is. At least she seems to have a sense of humor about it and doesn't appear to seriously see exploiting her looks as a way of life like so many of the girls out here in LA do.

We're attracted to beauty, what can I say!?
On a more serious level though, females or males send out signals telling the world whether we / they are available, open, looking or stay away. Clearly, dressed up cute is calling attention. It's great.

i couldn't be bothered to watch whole thing , but i will readily assume i'm correct in assuming that a girl whose trying to get laid will do so more often than a girl whose not .

Girls seem to out to much on. Maybe they should stay in the middle? I go somewhere and she a girl with to much makeup and I want to puke up what ever I just ate.

I agree with the people above that said it's not an issue about looks.
The sexy girl looked like a prostitute and that sort of thing is actually looked down upon.
HOWEVER this lady was confident and she was clearly feeling good and seemed like she was having a fun time. That my friends is the key to her success. She had it in her mind that she would succeed in getting what she asked for...and that's what happened?
I only watched 3 min of it.The drab version dressed drab and acted drab. That is no way to stimulate a positive response from a stranger. Her voice and tone were lacking confidence, as if she knew or expected NOT to get what she wanted.
I have received free cab rides. And I am not sexy.
now what.-

It's like a mating technique! You know, you hear about birds looking all pretty so mates will pay attention...well, that's what she did I guess.
There is a similar documentary on whether people with good looks, sympathy power (being elderly), or smarts can get farther on the big and th small things. I think you can figure the results.
