"Electrosmog" refers to the electromagnetic fields emitted by computers and mobile phones, "eco-village" is a term used for small ecologically-sustainable communities and "carbon footprint" is the measure of the impact human activities on the environment.
They are joined by two other environmental terms, "food miles" and "green tax", in the 11th edition of the dictionary.
Other newly included terms such as "wardrobe malfunction", "fashion forward" or "wags" come from the realm of popular culture. The war on terror also contributes to the edition with "blue-on-blue", referring to friendly fire attacks, "extraordinary rendition", a controversial detention method where a person is moved from one state to another, and "watch list", a list of those being monitored.
According to dictionary editors, the new words painted a "vivid picture of current interests and concerns".

we have to take the negative tones out of our conversation
move as a culture to higher level of communication, fear based conversation is a distraction, nonproductive and
paralyzes not mobilizes people.emotionally charged information is the truth twisted,no longer the truth, have no fear the truth will stand on it's own, look through the fear and anger
and there the truth will be twinkling like a diamond, seek and you shall find that diamonds are every where. -
Thanks Jim. Just got your message

I'm officially coining "ecollectual" - 1. one who displays a great knowledge of all things eco; may or may not be a blowhard. "Bob is a true ecollectual." 2. something done that is ecologically intelligent. "Your personal wind turbine is SO ecollectual!"

Beautiful !! Forward Advancement..

If we are into coining words or concepts regarding the life style changes environmental awareness has presented to us, I would like to offer "eco-unnecessary"
This is a very simple concept--"Why are there pineapples in Wisconsin?"
The list could include mangoes, papaya, cod, talapia, lobster, basically salt-water anything, Mexican or South American anything, European anything...catch my drift?
We gotta all change our greed--"I gotta have it" goes beyond money and politics...
There would be benefits to regionally (less-transported) modified eating--it would be called "Regional Flavor"...Clam Chowder in a Sour Dough Bowl on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco? Yes, and only within 200 miles from there!

How about bushed, not as in "I've worked hard and now I'm bushed". More like "That dude lied his butt off and now we've been bushed".

Interesting, but what can it achieve. A few new buzz-words enter the dictionary. How about instead talking about helping the environment and filling our language with "nu-speak", how about actually doing something. The new dictionary made from recycled dictionaries, after all we're going to need to replace our dictionaries and thesaurus' now.
Also will the definition for "eco-village", will it contain the fact that many communities hotly disagree with the construction of such places (what can you expect when plans for these projects are located in green belt land, we can destroy a part of a delicate eco-system or build slightly more efficient housing).
Secondly, again on the point of Environmentally friendly housing, many construction companies in the UK have come under fire in regards to many of it's greener housing projects. Namely they're not doing what they're supposed to, no insulation, drafts, poor wiring and poor construction standards. -
Yes, to answer a private concern..."Wisconsin Beer and Brats" should only be served in Wisconsin...
You are going to corner me into publicly stating what I truly believe--if you live in a community of over 54,326 people you should be shot! But, I would never publicly state that...it is my "hidden agenda"...

Too many people already do not understand proper English, why throw new words at them?

It's good to see people's attitudes turn "greener" as well as their words yet actions are still greatly lacking. The company my mom works for is switching all of their lights to compact fluorescent, which is good, but they are still doing other less eco-friendly things. It may be that a few bad apples spoil the bunch but my biggest fear is that people will capitalize on the environmental movement and settle for measures short of what could be attained. It seems that anyone can claim to be going green but more importantly how green are they going? There is hope still, but we will need better technologies (and more jargon, hooray) to sustain the populations of the planet.
