    • Here's an interesting piece of news. Intercepted radio communication and other sources of Russian intelligence have uncovered a massive provocation being prepared for the city of Gori. A large group of Georgian forces and pro-Georgian Ukrainian nationalist volunteers have massed on the outskirts of Gori and are preparing to put on Russian uniforms and go on looting and robbing sprees around Gori so that news crews will show Russian troops in a bad light.

A few days ago a group of people dressed in Russian uniforms were sited by Russian peacekeepers in the Zugdidi region where similar provocations were being prepared. The active actions of Russian peacekeepers and Abkhazian militia there were able to prevent them from carrying out their plans.

In Gori the city officials have been warned and everyone including the Russian army are on the ready for looters dressed in Russian army uniforms.

    • I am Georgian and from my perspective there is only one reason why Russia invaded Georgia. I will try to explain it breafely. After collapse of soviet union Georgia made attempt to move towards west and brake connections with the soviet past. Itw as not a very succesful move during president shevardnadze but with the new government western agenda became top priority. Government made clear statement that Georgia wanted to join the Nato and more then 80% of the population supported this agenda. In two three years Georgias economic growth jumped and progressed and it was evident that integration with NATO was inevitable.
On the other side Georgia became example for those countries who wanted to achive democratic transitions and other post soviet countries watched developmets in Georgia very carefully learning from the experience.
Thirdly Georgia became transit route for energy supplies to EU and US and talks to increase transit capacity also started to become more loud and real.
Russia could not leave with this happening near its borders. Puting agenda to restore soviet union was falling apart. there was a sucecsful rpecedent of a small state which progressed independently from Russia and would inevitably lead other countries to follow its route. This is why Russia planned miliatry intervention. To stop progress and to maintain the claim on post soviet space. But hopefully this is not 20th century when claims like that did not receive adequate response from westerjn countries. The pot is boiling. Attack is turning from showing the force into revealing the witness. Russians yesterday even delared that they will consider using nuclear capabilities agains Poland so this fight is not about Georgia. It is about Russian domination which is coming to end. I already wrote that Russia is not a superpower it is petrol feeded power which will inevitably come to end. Partners will not be partners in the future with the country who is threatening with nuclear bombs.
