Mats Larsson found that 'a low frequency of crypts was significantly associated with tender-mindedness, warmth, trust, and positive emotions, whereas more distinct and extended furrows were associated with impulsiveness.'
It furthers earlier, and rather tenuously linked, studies which have linked people with darker eye colours to being more likely to show signs of 'extroversion, neuroticism, and sociability'
Stuff like this always amazes me, I mean, it's like a personality fingerprint, in your eye!

This is really cool, but this means that there are specific traits for homosexuality, murderers, and everything else so would parents get their babies eyes checked when they are born to see what the future holds?
-
interesting, not sure of the merit in the theory but its an interesting one none the less. and eyes, especially magnified, are truly beautiful works of art

eyes are so sexy.

So will it be wrong if I'm a low frequency cryptist? That eye looks fake by the way.

There is nothing fake about that eye. It's an excellent piece of macrophotography.

There is also a method of diagnosis based on the iris. It is called iridology.

i've got sectoral heterochromia, so does that mean i've got split personality.. or that i turn on people??
i think eyes have a lot to tell about a person but not in this way. more the emotions that can be expressed through them

Now I'm even more confused. My eyes change so often that I have no idea what to tell the DMV lady when she asks. They change from blue to green to some weird mix and I always have a ring of yellow immediately surrounding my pupil. I give up.
-
Where is the scientific backing for this? How was this 'proven'? They use to think you could tell a personality by the bumps on your head too.

Nettle, it is not that your eyes change colour, it is the kind, angle and intensity of light that gives this illusion. I have observed this phenomenon in many green-blue eyed people, including my mother, my younger brother, my daughter and her father. Depending on the light, their eyes can look anything from deep blue to turqoise to green to hazel to yellow. I have basically brown eyes which can look hazel, khaki green, brown, and black, depending on the light.

Thats amazing!

Sounds fishy to me.
Let's wait until it's thoroughly peer reviewed, duplicated and field tested before we start staring at our eyes in the mirror.
-
This is awesome.
-
Is that why we're sposed to be able to tell a lot about a person just by looking into their eyes?
-
I'm sorry, but this kinda feels like a new astrology or palm reading.

the eyes have been recognized as a diagnostic tool as far back as Hippocrates.
Hiram Powers (1805-83) said "The eye is the window of the soul; the intellect and will are seen in it."
I love it when our modern science finally "proves" through technology things that have been known to those in generations past.
-
It has always been said that eyes are the window into the soul...this just takes it a little further.

It's amazing how the human eye resembles the cosmos.
This is a Helix Nebula (or White Dwarf) in the constellation Aquarius.-

This is really cool. But would you be able to tell the same thing if a person was blind?
