This is potentially a huge victory for Fox who says, rather than monetary compensation, it would like to stop the film from being released altogether.

Definitely my favorite comic series. You have to like a comic writer who lists the author of "Naked Lunch" as one of his main influences.
I really hope the movie gets made.
-
If this movie gets canned because of studio bitterness, then I will lose all faith in Hollywood. Not like I have much to begin with...

This is one of the best books ever, not just for graphic novels but for literature in general. Alan Moore takes you on a mind expanding and challenging journey into the hearts of superheros, gods and men who want to be gods. It's amazing. Even though there is no way a movie could compare to it, I hope it is able to be made because comic nerds like me have been waiting for YEARS to check it out.
-
I just saw the trailer for this last night while watching the Dark Knight. It was really awesome looking. I hope that Fox doesn't succeed in blocking this movie, the people who will lose out the most are the fans.

I really don't mind if Warner Bros. gets the hell sued out of them by Fox for money, but if they effectively stop the movie, they will become public enemy no. 1, and I for one will boycott all of their movies and shows.
Fargin' sneaky bastages.

"Hrrrrrrmmmmm"
The Doomsday clock is ticking, but who watches The Watchmen? Not us apparently.
But seriously, this movie will never get blocked, far too much is invested in it to prevent it from seeing the light of day on 3-6-09. I feel a large 8 figure settlement is on the horizon, because as much as I hate saying it (as I'm a huge Watchmen fan and can't wait to see the movie....IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE THE BOOK!!!) I really don't think an R-rated niche comic book movie will really work. Sure, 300 did, but I really think Watchmen man have an uphill battle finding an audience outside of those who have already read the book (and if you haven't GO READ IT NOW!). That's why I say the studio would be better off taking a large 8 figure sum rather than points and a percentage of grosses.
Watch, in three weeks this will all be over and we will still be getting our Watchmen in March...FINALLY.
But you gotta admit, somewhere in his bat sh*t crazy exile cave, Alan Moore is smiling.

Hey Warners. Remind Fox that, in today's Media, bad publicity is still publicity.
Hold up. What was I thinking? They KNOW that.
(fun post, Swiyyah) -
Bromley's right, it won't ultimately get blocked. Fox will just get a big chunk of blood money. What DICKS.
This is what Hollywood is - a bunch of non-creative vampires suing each other over their "rights" to someone else's brainchild.
-
Ugh, I can't stand Fox.
-
Another DICK move by the ultra right fox media. Murdoch is such an a$$h0lle.
-
A similar case happened with the Dukes Of Hazzard movie a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it was released, and fortunately this movie will be released.

Who watches the Foxmen?!
If this gets fox-blocked i will personally go down there myself and roundhouse someone in the face. this is one of my favorite books of all time and even if the movie is only half as good as the book, it will still be amazing.
-
As much as I'd love to see this film in a theater, with Dolby surround sound and in all of its digital glory, if it this gets blocked by the powers that be, I'll settle for less than perfect copy leaked to the Internet.
-
I don't see how you could make a decent movie out of that book. Good though it is. If they shot the book, the kiddies would have no idea what the plot was. The politics of the 80's are ancient history to them, they weren't even born. What am I saying, the politics of today would be just foreign. Either you'd have to make it a period piece, and constantly explain, or change it so much that you'd have nothing left, either way you get typical Hollywood crap. Not that any of these concerns would keep them from making money. When are they going to make a movie version of Tales from the Beanworld?
-
I just read the graphic novel last week, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was really interested to see the Hollywood interpretation of it, and am totally disappointed that Fox would try to block it although given their political bias, I am not surprised.
-
And this is why I'm glad Marvel finally got their one production company to do their own films...starting with Iron Man. None of this crap.
-
I didn't know that "Watchmen" was produced by a comic book company that was owned by Fox studios.

I really hope these corporation goons settle their dispute so the movie can come out. It would be a shame to let, what looks like a great piece of material, just die.
-
Give us our movies!!
-
The trailer actually looked pretty good, it would be a shame if this didn't come out.
-
im so excited for this film to come out. i just need to get on the novel before i see it.
