Why Democrats Should Turn Their Backs on John Edwards

Image...
Democrats have a responsibility to turn their backs on Edwards. As a person, I forgive Edwards. But as a representative and a spokesman for the party and its issues, I expect more. As a man who held his marriage, implicitly or otherwise, as an example of his integrity, credibility, and character, John Edwards failed his cause.

They're all scum. All politicians at that level. I'm completely convinced.
I guess they get God complexes with that kind of power. Weak minds...

I think John turned his own back, look at the lifestyles of the rich and famous in DC. All are guilty of some infraction or another stop acting like infidelity is worse than killing millions of innocent people.

Oh for gods sake, cut the man some slack. So he had an affair, big deal. People can act selfishly and immorally and politicians are people.

He committed a selfish act and selfishly covered it at the expense of our campaign dollars. Not only it is a judgement against his character, but he cost Hillary the election. She would have been a more formidable opponent the John McCain.

I'm disappointed in Mr. Edwards, but honestly, shouldn't the media take a look in the mirror and realize that they're making HUGE deals about people's personal lives? Is America doomed to become a country of triviality, versus a place where we value good ideas, strong action, and matters that issue?

I'm not defending him as I find what he did to be personally wrong and am disappointed, but it should be for his wife and him to work out now. And if we follow that advice, we would be turning our backs on many Democrats who over the last eight years have done absolutely nothing but allow Bush to screw this entire country.

I still take issue with his ongoing arrogance that he can just move on in his political career as if we all forgave and forgot his transgressions and attempts to hide them.
    I'll forgive him someday but,...

Something is awry in the public's interest when infidelity creates more media buzz that say, well, a government lying to its country about torture, fighting a war without proper incentive . . .

Suffice to say, like all of you, I wish for Edwards to work this out on his own. Alas, as a politician, one makes the choice to have their personal choices scrutinized beneath the public eye. Unfortunate in circumstances such as this, but a by-product of the job.

In his hour of weakness he allowed himself to falter, this has cost him a great deal, much more than the pleasure that he derived from the experience, I'm sure. Whether he thought about what he was doing or not, is not the issue now, whether he will ever recover and get another chance, is...

Oddly, it seems that the Democrats are to be held to a higher standard than the republicans, who do the same things and are given a pat on the back and more pac money to continue unfazed...the proverbial double standard...

Still, I am disappointed in the man, because I felt that he had a brilliant future ahead of him and was just getting started, fighting for the common people, the middle class people of this honorable nation...he was another proponent for helping us to take back the America that we love...

Good grief. He had an affair. It is none of our business. If we rejected everyone that wanted to be president or that was president for that we would have been leaderless for at least the last sixty years, except for Nixon and Carter. Think about it and get over it.

So he cheated. It has no effect on me. Edwards is a stand up politician. If we're expecting our representatives to be infallible Gods (when it comes to their personal lives), we're deluding ourselves.

I don't care who's having an affair with who. I want to know what laws they are going to make and how they are going to turn our country around.
