The film is quite good, but I would say very very overhyped.
The thing is, that it had such a good viral campaign on the internet and a lot of the fans were talking about it, therefore it has gained a lot more exposure than the usual film.
I liked the overall tone of the film, the darkness, the effects & tone.
Although I have to say, that I didn't really find joker's performance as impressive as people make it out to be. I don't care if it was Ledger or not, it's still the joker. Most people have never been in contact with the Batman franchise and can't judge if Ledger is doing the Joker Character (as in the comics) justice.

I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton's Batman film though. The eerieness and the Tim Burton touch are a perfect match for the whole setting.

Yes its a very good film, whether to say its the best? Im not entirely sure. I think older films which didnt have access to CGI or a big budget to film it with sort of showed us the way, and in this they brought a new level of filming, thats why i find old films more gripping, because they used every resource possible to them.

Im not saying this is a bad film, i was on the edge of my seat watching it! But i cant truly believe it is the best film ever made to date.
