Texas Death Row Prisoner Faces Execution Tonight for Murder He Didn’t Commit

Image...
A thirty-five-year-old man on death row in Texas faces execution tonight for a murder he didn’t commit. Jeff Wood is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 6:00 p.m., unless Governor Rick Perry grants him clemency. Wood was an accomplice in a 1996 convenience store robbery. He was sitting in a truck outside when the clerk was shot and killed. The man who pulled the trigger was executed six years ago, but Wood was given a death sentence for the same crime under the Texas law of parties. We go to the prison where Jeff Wood is awaiting death to speak with his wife, mother and father outside. We also speak with Liliana Segura of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty

He may deserve to be jailed for robbery, but he had little to no part in the clerk dying. He didn't stand behind his partner and tell him to do it.

Outrageous and barbaric. And no surprise it is Texas. And I too cannot understand why this isn't given more attention. This isn't justice.

Ummm it says that he committed the same crime.. so was there enough evidence? And how do you know if he did or did not commit this crime? .. I find the story rather confusing.. other than that, may God be with him.

Being pro death penalty for only the truly guilty this man should not die or serve a life sentence. Is our justice system that screwed up and the judges that stupid to let this take place.Granted we are not working with the sharpest tack in the box here but someone in Texas knows better.

if you watch the whole interview it explains how he was not the killer but in Texas that does not matter
