It isn't that they said he can't celebrate, its that he chose to celebrate in a selfish way that brought criticism. Hey, if ya can't take criticism, ya better not leave yer house...
-
"brother"
Thats the bit i've a problem with...

Showboating? Is that all? At least he's of age. I'm looking at yooou, China.
-
Wait... so he will criticises him over sportsmanship, but has said something about the numerous allegations of underage athletes from China participating in the games.
-
Exactly, Zell.
The dude is such a hater!
-
World record' do anything you want to do.congrats
-
He set unbelievable world records and claimed 2 olympic gold sprint medals in two events. The man is entitled to celebrate a little
-
Aah, let the man celebrate! His performance was incredible and made history. Trust the IOC to be a wet blanket.
-
i'm going to do this is my favorite format
a) he's jamaica, jamaican's like to celebrate when they do something amazing (most of us do)
b) shouldn't they be focusing instead on the underage gymnasts rather than shaking their fingers at some dude who is officially the fastest man in recorded history?
-
Um people, Im pretty sure the IOC can multi-task. And the IOC is looking into the underage issue.
It doesnt matter if someone broke a world record or not, sportsmanship should be shown, others have done it hundreds of times, why cant he?
From the article: -- "Bolt made little effort to congratulate the other runners as he wrapped himself in a Jamaican flag and set off on a solo victory lap. Swaying to the reggae music on the stadium loudspeakers, he walked barefoot around the track, putting his face inches from a TV camera, raising an index finger and yelling, “I am No. 1! I am No. 1!”"

We don't watch him because he has wonderful morals we watch him because he's fast. If you want to see good humble people go to a convent. you want to see cocky athletes....watch this little Jamacian run.

Lol, this is funny.
-
he's the fastest man in the world, need i say more??
-
i recorded the 200 race i dont see the problem and he did what anyone else does who wins...he is overwhelmed..celebrates and then he gets the flag and celebrates again ...he went to his pple with the jamaican shirts in the seats..then hugs his friends who raced with him two from the US ...OH and he broke a WR..id be doing the butterfly and break dancing lol
i dont care what anyone says...the olympics is to see which country is better...all i see are metal counts on websites showing who has more than others..not sportsmanship credits...
now they want to cry about it.whtever..the guy flew like a cheetah -
Don't they have more important things to worry about... Maybe the 12 year olds that are competing?
-
Why is it that athletes who get criticized for "showboating" or not being a "role model" are oftentimes black? Perhaps the status quo is a bit upset, eh?
He's a champion. He deserves to cheer. Just as the losers with humility should not be affected by his exaltations. After all, they did make it to the Olympics.
-
this man is the fastest man in friggin history, he has every right. as long as he's not kicking his competitors in the shins, he can do whatever he goddamn wants.
I like him more for it! fuck yea! you ARE number ONE! rub it in our faces and make us angry! it's the nature of competition and he's living it every square inch. GO BOLT!!!

The Olympic head should shut up.
-
Go Jamaica!! Keep it irie!! Don't worry about the haters and jealous countries.
-
Jacques Rogge is a bully and like most bullies they are cowards. Yahoo has a great article about Rogge and his criticizism towards Bolt. Please read:

I've said for the most part that comments on the Olympics are a waste of time, but in this case, I agree tell Jacques Rogge should shut his mouth.
Bolt won the race on his 22nd birthday, oh AND he blew the field away, oh AND he set a world record that the EXPERTS said he couldn't do, in a freakin' headwind, then the entire stadium started singing happy birthday.
Forgive the hell out of me, but give the man a few minutes to soak it in. I heard his interview(s) after the race he was not nearly as cocky as some other winners of track events, and HE'S 22.
GO BOLT!!! I can't wait to watch him break his own record, 'cause nobody is gong to beat this guy any time soon.

it's not like you can keep people from celebrating... as long as he's not being downright rude, what's the deal? if it's that bad he'll be giving his country a bad look anyway which is punishment enough, right?

I just hope he isn't on any drugs. It saddens me when people had something in their system after winning.
BUT...I'm on the up and up and thinking he did this because he's that good. Just like Michael Phelps. Just like others that show up being great.
Be excited for their greatness because it's not likely you'll ever see it again.
-
you can't blame the IOC for criticizing him. For him to celebrate even before finishing was disrespectful to the athletes, and maybe he didn't realize it because in the 200 he didn't let up or celebrate until after crossing. But of course, the IOC has dropped the ball on a lot of things, but the age of the gymnasts is being thoroughly investigated right now, so they are doing their job.
the man can celebrate all he wants, just after finishing the race.
