(02:07) Report
Aug 21 - With billions around the world living without a toilet, sanitation experts are pushing to get this most basic need on the political agenda.
Better sanitation improves human health, promotes economic and social development and also helps the environment.
That's the arguments development professionals want governments and businesses to hear to help improve the sanitation facilities of the 40 percent of the world's population who live without a toilet.

Grey water can be used for toilets. I know I am probably singing to the choir yet toilets flushing potable water makes no sense whatsoever.
This is an issue that each of us could take to city councils, planning commissions, state government. Maybe our states need to teach WA DC leadership?

what do you mean, gray water?

When people can't eat, where they go seems like a non-issue.

those toilets look like a CEMETERY.
it's supply and demand people, wake up! there is a HUGE demand for toilets, because the supply of PEOPLE is too big.
less people on this planet = less toilets, pollution, wars, disease, extinction
ISSUE # 1 = OVERPOPULATION

In a nation that uses so much of the world's resources I believe we have a moral and ethical obligation to help others with safe water, sanitation, food, medical care.
If one wants to be pragmatic regions that have basic needs met are more stable than those who are lacking all resources that sustain life.

Someone asked what is grey water? Grey water is water that you have used in sinks, showers, in certain areas laundry, etc. There are ways to make it safe for use in flushing toilets, in watering landscaping, etc. There is not one good reason to use fresh water to flush toilets. We are in the dark ages when it comes to scarce resources. There are even toilets that have sinks on top to wash with that drains to toilet tank.
All the toilets lined up in the video did not use grey water. Here is a link to grey water ideas:

Hey Karnathis, thanks for the links. I am going to send these to my son who is a contractor.

Call me slow, but I always thought all toilet and shower water was grey water. It is a serious waste if perfectly good drinking water is used.

If people want to be healthy they have to have sanitation. We would not need so much medical care in countries lacking sanitation if there were toilets.
Food production depends upon safe water. It does matter if thousands upon thousands are defecating and pollution their water supplies.

has somebody told Bill Gates and his African assistance organization about the lack of toilets in undeveloped countries?
