God-dammit... All stinks of hypocracy to me, all those precious resources going into making a statement against "consumerism"... Then to ultimately burn it all!! Is this some sort of sick joke,??,

Wow. I've wondered about this seeing some of the more elaborate structures. All that new lumber burned. This is pretty disgusting. We have to fight to save our forests up here and self important folks with too much time and/or money on their hands blow off natural resources to satisfy their "artistic" whims. No thanks.

Actually you are right as an art piece it is great.. I just have an issue with the fact that the creator misguidedly thinks it is a statement against "wasteful consumerism". Torching the thing is infact a blatant act of "wasteful consumerism"..

I did want a Hummer H1 for a good, long time...but with the price of gas rising and never looking back, I still think it's a cool ass truck, but practicality is going to win...unless I win the lottery, then I will get 4 of them...

a fine statement on the hideousness of the consumerculture and the H2 as the nightmare finale of waste and conspicuous consumtion. those who find it wasteful to burn this art piece, in the spirit of buning man, just don't get it. i find it far more disgusting to relize that real hummers have been going up in smoke since '02, not to mention the resources, lives and money that have been wasted...

I do think all the burning of everything is a waste...and I'm not a baby , you must be if you can't take critisizm. Burning stuff, any stuff, is part of the problem. Save the burning for the man alone, keep that the focus...does everyone need to do the same thing ...think outside the burning box kids... your supposed to be artists...come on think think

They did not burn the tires. Just the wooden structure of the Hummer as a symbol for ending the purchasing of large gas guzzling automobiles. Myk told us that the Hummer has now been discontinued for civilians. How about that?

It looks amazing. But it would have been really cool if they made mention of an alternative way to use the materials for a different construction. Say, next year, the pieces could be used as part of a structure or let people paint their own messages on it. Or if they used environmentally-friendly paint since it's going to be burned, that would have made this truly part of the Burning Man spirit.

Better yet, transform an actual Hummer into an art car and have it run on vegetable oil. THAT would be a real great expression! :-)

Nothing like making assumptions. The tires were not part of the burn, as well as any other plastic or rubber components.
