Dog Rescued After Left For Dead In The Road |

Image...
A dog who was left for dead is up and walking around now after being rescued by a Good Samaritan.

"Old Yeller" was found lying along side a road, presumably hit by a car and unable to even lift his head. Once at the Animal Defense League they realized he hadn't been hit by car, but instead has severe arthritis.

After two weeks of treatment, he's now moving around on his own.

"Little by little, he got up," said Emily King of the Animal Defense League. "He can walk out to the yard by himself, and he can walk into the run by himself."

The Animal Defense League says Old Yeller is already helping other dogs. He donated blood that saved another dog's life.

    Awww...a Puppy!!!!

Not only did someone save this poor, helpless creature from dying a HORRIBLE death on the roadside, but they made him a HERO by donating his blood to another dog against his will....this is so touching!

Atleast we know this little arthritic pup never had sexual contact with another male pup...or else he wouldn't have been able to be a hero...

If the dog is in that much pain, they should consider quality of life versus quantity. Arthritis doesn't go away, and even with Rimadyl, which is a pretty good arthritis painkiller for dogs, to keep him alive to use as a blood donor is pretty coldhearted. It would be different if they actually gave him a loving home, but it sounds like he gets to walk into a dog run and then back to a cage and that's about it. A dog that's so old it has that bad of arthritis deserves to have a loving home at that stage of its live, a couch to curl up on, and a person to shower it with love. Its just sad no one will that this guy home.
