On Aug 27 2008 at the Democratic Convention in Denver, Vice-presidential candidate Sen. Joseph Biden presented the plan for the real war, the war against China, Russia. He repeated the key points pushed by Zbigniew Brzezinski in his obsessive determination to go to the final clash with Russia and Asia.
For Biden, The greates mistake of the Bush administration was its failure "to face the biggest forces shaping this century. The emergence of Russia, China and India's great powers".
"What was the "consequence of this neglect"? "Russia challenging… Georgia's freedom." The Obama-Biden administration will repair those criminal mistakes... Barack and I will end that neglect. We will hold Russia accountable."
"The wars of the Bush administration were, so to speak the wrong ones.
"The new administration will unchain the real war. The war to confront the emergence of Russia, China, India.
"The war, the real war will have to be waged in Afghanistan/Pakistan - exactly the area where it will be more disruptive for the feared Russia, China India challenge.
"The previous administration was not warmonger enough, according to Biden. The new Democratic administration will increase the number of troops sent in central Asia.
"Then "the real war" against America's enemies will start. "al-Qaida and the Taliban - the people who have actually attacked us on 9/11 - they've regrouped in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan and are plotting new attacks."
"McCain is bad as President because he did not understand the need for the "real war."
"McCain believes that the war in Afghanistan is over. But Obama is the real champion of the US National Security. "One year ago he said 'We need to send two more combat battalions to Afghanistan'…"
"The military establishment is with Obama, in this real war, Biden said. "the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has echoed Barack's call for more troops and John McCain was wrong and Barack Obama was right."
"Bush foreign policy has dug us into a very deep hole, with very few friends to help us climb out. And for the last seven years, the administration has failed to face the biggest the biggest forces shaping this century. The emergence of Russia, China and India's great powers, the spread of lethal weapons, the shortage of secure supplies of energy, food and water. The challenge of climate change and the resurgence of fundamentalism in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the real central front in the war on terror.
"Ladies and gentlemen, in recent years and in recent days we once again see the consequences of the neglect, of this neglect, of Russia challenging the very freedom of a new democratic country of Georgia. Barack and I will end that neglect. We will hold Russia accountable for its action and we will help Georgia rebuild. I have been on the ground in Georgia, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and I can tell you in no uncertain terms, this administration's policy has been an abysmal failure. America cannot afford four more years of this failure. And now, now, despite being complacent in the catastrophic foreign policy, John McCain says Barack Obama, Barrack Obama is not ready to protect our national security. Now let me ask you this. Whose judgment do you trust? Should you trust the judgment of John McCain when he said only 3 years ago, "Afghanistan - we don't read about it anymore in the papers, because it succeeded"? Or do you believe Barack Obama, who said a year ago, "We need to send two more combat battalions to Afghanistan"?
"The fact of the matter is, al-Qaida and the Taliban - the people who have actually attacked us on 9/11 - they've regrouped in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan and are plotting new attacks. And the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has echoed Barack's call for more troops and John McCain was wrong and Barack Obama was right."

India is a threat ? he's been there too ? where the hell in India did he go ? bomb India and no-one will be around to answer your call whenever you have a question about your credit card - wait - that might actually be a subject for a conspiracy theory .

Why don't articles like this get more responses and views? These issues are the ones that shape much of America's position in the world, yet they often go neglected on current. National issues are as important as international ones in my opinion, but the link from the international issues to the national ones are hard for the ordinary man to see I suppose. These stories rarely make it to the top, but often the same superficial stories that current tries to get away from are at the forefront of the major media sources are the most popular on the site. It just irks me.

How is this any different than the Bush doctrine? Sounds like the Progressive Policy Institute (the DLC Democratic equivalent of PNAC) has gotten to Obama. And Biden voted for the Iraq war I believe, so it is no surprise now why he was then selected for VP.
I thought I was actually reading a speech by Dick Cheney here! How can Democrats condone this crap continuing? And China and Russia? Are Obama and Biden setting us up for WW3 as well? I have had it with war talk on ALL sides. How will we EVER get to 100% renewable energy in ten years if all they talk about is war? And should it come to the "accountability" Biden talks about, where do they expect to get troops and money from with the deficits and economy we have? They better not look at our children! This is downright scary and proves to me that Democrats and Republicans are no different when it comes to warmongering, and I WILL NOT VOTE FOR WARMONGERS.
'The fact of the matter is, al-Qaida and the Taliban - the people who have actually attacked us on 9/11 - they've regrouped in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan and are plotting new attacks.'
Again, sounds like something Bush would say. I didn't fall for the BS scare tactics from Bush, and I will not condone it from any other Republican or Democrat either. We should be cutting our defense budget so we can bring Americans healthcare and opportunity, not talk about more war! They try to take this anywhere else, and I hope they will have to deal with us in the streets.
All I know is, if Obama doesn't rescind Presidential Directive 51 ( which conveniently no one asks him about) and continues this BS talk about war, he then will be NO different than Bush. That is why Bush and his cohorts should have been impeached...because not doing so and not taking back the unconstitutional powers given them only makes it easy for another dictator to take hold.
NO MORE WAR!

Those who think this is good can then go fight in Afghanistan. I can't wait to see all the Obama supporters lining up to join the armed services.

“The issue is not whether Iran presents a real security challenge. It does. The question is whether we have a realistic view of that challenge -- and a coherent policy to deal with it. Iran is not ten feet tall. It is not the Soviet Union at the height of its power. Despite is large oil reserves it faces serious economic problems – including high inflation and unemployment. It has very few friends and its people chafe under social and political repression. It spends about $7 billion on defense every year – about what we spend in Iraq every two weeks.
But Iran’s acquisition of a nuclear weapon would dramatically destabilize an already unstable region and probably fuel a nuclear arms race in the region. It is profoundly in our interest to prevent that from happening.
Our choices are straightforward. We either engage, maintain the status quo, or use some sort of military force. “Joe Biden
Joe Biden is scared of Iran. Seriously stop and think about that for a moment. Joe Biden, a US Senator from Delaware is scared of Iran. How many sane Americans out there actually fear the Iranian government? I know I sure as hell don’t fear Iran. I could personally give a crap what goes on in that country so long as Americans are not involved.
However Biden would have you believe that we need to waste our time and money to tell the Iranians what to do and how to do it. Never mind the cost, America needs to make sure that Iran gets the picture and complies. No wonder Biden voted for the war in Iraq. He’s got warmonger written all over him.
-
Just about the time you think that "just maybe someone has come along that really wants to to do the right thing" you find out they are no different than the old regime.
I won't vote for McCain, and I'm not so sure about Obama. But where does one turn? The independents are too fractured to unite and make a strong showing.
Mainstrem media is useless, and upwards of 80% of the population gets their news from them.I still believe change starts with one person, and each one of us needs to be that person.
-
csmonut: That is indeed the conundrum for me too: I would not vote for McCain in a million years, especially now picking a VP nominee who wants to open up ANWR and who doesn't think global warming is manmade... and now, I don't even see a decent Democratic Party choice because I sure as hell am not going to vote for more innocent deaths. So as you asked, where does one turn? It must be ourselves.

Given the shaky source plus the typos, I assume this isn't true. I mean, seriously, read this. Such poor writing denotes poor reporting.

Wow. What a terrible excuse for journalism.
-
This sounds like it was written by a Republican smear tactic source. It is not journalism, pure, intelligent journalism...probably the repubbies think most of us who watch this news are a bunch of tree hugging peacenicks...(which I am), and they want us to loose faith in Obama. If this is real....then it's scarey.....to think both parties are hell bent to perpetuate the despicability of war in the name of security....Bush already did that guys. Yeah I guess you got to keep a lid on the Taliban...true.....but INDIA.....they are our friends....we love their food ....their spice....their culture....Ghandi.....their people.....
Why don't our leaders figure out how to co-exist with nations instead of attack them.

In his speech he did mention the emergence of Russia, China, and India. The rest seems to be misquoted.

No war is a "right war". Real or not, america has to face the fact that we are no longer the prosperous industrial nation we were and stop trying to dip our fingers in the prosperity of other nations. I mean it seem like all these talks of war from both camps are sending the signals of a world war III and it seems like we are provoking it.

I'm not going to war with anybody. I don't care what the jackass gov't says.

The Democrats endorse the "Global War on Terrorism": Obama "goes after" Osama http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=9995
In recent days there is mounting evidence of the advance of totalitarianism in the political and media mainstream. The entire Western world, led by the United States, has embraced a Georgian regime, which invaded South Ossetia totally demolishing its capital city of 50,000 residents, assassinated 1500 men, women and children and dozens of Russian peace keepers.
The US has mobilized a naval and air armada off the Iranian coast, prepared to annihilate a country of 70 million people. The New York Times published an essay by a prominent Israeli historian, which advocates the nuclear incineration of Iran. All the major mass media have mounted a systematic propaganda campaign against China, supporting each and every terrorist and separatist group, and whipping up public opinion in favor of launching a New Cold War. There is little doubt that this new wave of imperial aggression and bellicose rhetoric is meant to deflect domestic discontent and distract public opinion from the deepening economic crises.
Joe Biden: Russia, China, India: "The Real War"
Obama's running mate presents the strategic plan for the next administration http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=9975"A society whose citizens refuse to see and investigate the facts, who refuse to believe that their government and their media will routinely lie to them and fabricate a reality contrary to verifiable facts, is a society that chooses and deserves the Police State Dictatorship it's going to get." -- Ian Williams Goddard

Is CNN better?

What rhetoric... Biden knows as well as I even do that Russia is there for the same reason WE are there supporting Georgia, to secure OIL pipelines. Don't tell me he doesn't know of the Caspian Sea oil pipelines and the plans for them and where they are. If he doesn't know he shouldn't have been selected to be Vice President. Trying to skew this to make it look like Russia simply trampled on a country trying to gain "Democracy" is what is misleading and is the same BS we heard from Bush regarding Iraq.-

Wow, I counted 14 instances of the word "war" in that article. That's more that Bush used in his 2003 State of the Union (which within or very near the start of the [doomed] war in Iraq and the [wasteful] "war on terror."

Obama is no peace candidate.
His poor choice of Biden who has been complicent in the Bush/Cheney war mongering and has been totally ineffective in stopping the Republicans for decades proves he will not stop war, just change the countries the U.S. attacks and bombs.
If Obama is for peace, then why did he vote in the Senate for over 20 Bush/Cheney war bills?
If Obama stands for peace, why does he promise to re-deploy troops in Iraq, say he'll keep Halliburton and other private contract killers in Iraq and increase the military by 100,000 troops?
People in America and the world want Peace Now.
Obama will bring more war and destruction. He and Biden are warmongers and just want to shift the conflict to other countries and continents.
-
If anyone thinks Obama/Biden will curb greenhouse gases and heal the environment, think about how their plans for war in Afghanistan, etc. will impact our air, water and earth.
Why doesn't anyone talk about how, along with the unacceptable loss of human life and property, all the bombing, use of depleted uranium and chemical warfare with white phosphorus pours carbon into our atmosphere and has a devastating impact on the environment worldwide?
War is never the answer. Studies prove that terrorism is never stopped and always exacerbated by millitary actions.
To compare Obama to JFK is insulting. JFK wasn't perfect, but he understood that the most effective way to advance American standing worldwide is to assist by supporting economic, educational, and social development in other countries, not by bombing them into submission, which just increases hatred of the U.S. government around the world.
The People want Peace Now, but don't expect Obama/Biden to deliver it.
-
This is an odd article because of the way it mixes quotations. Thanks Vierotchka for pointing the transcript out.
And yes, this is warmongering. We would perhaps be able to take a rational stance in regard to the Georgia-Russia conflict were we to actually implement a /real/ progressive energy policy (and this is definitely about energy, not undermining freedom and democracy). I am at once excited and saddened when I see new sustainable energy start-ups being reported, because I feel as though most of them won't get the monetary support they need when they need it.
America's post-depression strategy (pre-war), though far from perfect, should be a loose guide for what we have to do here in the USA. Let's implement viable standards for new energy sources and have fast-track money available all around the board to get them working TODAY and not at some absurdly vague point in the future (which is actually not vague, it's when all the profit has been sucked out of traditional methods) let's start upgrading our infrastructure to support these new technologies RIGHT AWAY. And this is POSSIBLE (along with healthcare) once you REDIRECT FUNDS FROM THE M.I.C.!!
Then, and only then, will invading nations across the ocean not be so necessary. We can and must continue to embody the revolutionary and progressive ideals of our founding fathers by /transcending/ the status quo and set precedence. From that we will have proven and viable products to sell to the rest of the world and globalized capitalism can continue to flourish in ways that don't continually threaten our peace and existence!
As an example, if all service stations could swap eco-friendly batteries in our cars, along with a realistic gamut of other alternative fuels, then electric cars WOULD be viable and they would be viable NOW just as they already have the capacity to be.
I knew this Biden guy was going to turn out to be a tool. China, Russia, and INDIA (?!) do not have to be our destined enemies in the 21st century! They are fellow human beings!!! Let's set precedence and say to hell with those that demand war in order to ensure maximum profit for unsustainable industies!!!!
There is another way!!!
