One such wonderful train, which will have an edge in this train-flight competition, is under construction in China. The speed of the train is 380 kph, making it the fastest bullet train in the world. The train will take an estimated five hours to reach Shanghai from Beijing, a run of 1,318 kilometers. Hebei-based locomotives manufacturer, Tangshan Railway Vehicles Co Ltd is developing the wonderful train, which will be on track by 2012..."

The Paris-Strasbourg line goes upwards of 350 kmh already. I love taking the high speed trains, and if you look at the issue from a door to door perspective - if you aren't going too far - then the time can be the same or even shorter.

what China is doing in terms of its energy consumption and transportation is very remarkable. their speedily becoming one of the top green investing countries in the world. more so because of its national security than the environment but all in all its a great move foward for china.

ive heard america might get one eventually to go between vegas and LA. of course in typical american fashion itll probably still use gas and get 2gpm. good for china though, i hope they make it big enough for their 1.3 billion people to ride (of course they aren't obese like 33% of america so their train will probably be smaller).

China could use more of this to balance out their rising pollution problem.
Its actually being considered between San Francisco and Los Angeles, unfortunately California has major budget problems at this time.

Why are we being passed up by China in this field of trains. Poor leadership and spending money on the military industrial complex I'd say.

I took their Bullet train in Shanghai to their airport... and its amazing! Its blistering fast going at 431km/h!
I don't think I've ever ridden anything on land that fast! It's nice to know they can further implement this.
ps. I don't think this future train is going as fast as the Shanghai one.

With airline prices these days I'll hop on a train...

we still lead the world in cool stuff but unfortunately its invested in the militarily. In the world over major investments have been made in their home turf. from Doha to Yamagata the world has been investing heavily in improving their countries infrastructure and preparing their nations to be better equipped for the global economy. The us on the other hand has been investing more in the military than domestic programs. we set the rules and invented the game but for some reasons everyone else seems to be better at it than we are.

Please tell me why we are spending money to get the Iraqi Oil when we could have magnetic or solar trains? We could build the tracks down the current freeways...either suspended on top or down the center....
WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
