Different materials are appropriate for different uses - insulation, extended life, low cost, durability in extreme environments and so on. You cut six 4' x 8' panels in half diagonally to make the roof, and use six more whole panels to form the walls. It takes about two hours. The design is in the public domain, and is in active development as a Free/Open Source style project.

awesome!!!!
me and my friends made the same hexayurt for the burn this year. they are a wonderful idea and could maybe be used on a large scale in tent cities across the world.
we planned the project the day before we left default world and built it for the first time on the playa in under 2 hours. its easy peasy, anyone could do it.to make the structures stronger you could use plywood supports inside and tall rebar reinforcements.
yeah burning man!!
