She and the writers of her carefully crafted speech (originally meant for Tim Pawlenty, so it's said) have left her wide open to full-tilt investigation, opinion and critique.
Good.
We need to know as much about Governor Palin as possible in the less than two months to Election Day. -
Hi Joan:
Who stated that she is the next Obama?
Rudy Giuliana in Drag appears funny possibly witty I have seen Rudy in drag and he is more verse and agile in heels.
I think if Obama has any substance then he should have no problem with Palin...excuse me Bulldog with lipstick but can Obiden hang with her in a debate?
Actually there are rumours that Hillary may be back in play... Biden may have an excuse to get out after the weekend polls show McCain ahead and Obama losing critical swing states that the so-called Bulldog plays well in....
Hillary will come to rescue ...Obama screwed up not picking her and deserves his current situation... take care -
why did she go out on offense if she can't back it up with substance. I want her to go out and talk about the issues what she stands for and what she believes.
-
It is distressing that most people probably think that the speech Governor Palin gave was written by her. But as the first comment points out, it was written by Republican speech writers - for someone else. It was a very mean-spirited speech, and Governor Palin delivered it in a very mean-spirited manner. The Republicans could have gone out and hired any number of actresses to deliver their speech, and probably have achieved the same result. The United States deserves a potential Vice Presidential candidate who would be a competent President. That is not Governor Palin.

She has not state anything wrong about anyone stating that she is a meany head.
And she's only as sarcastic as Obama has been.
-
That speech to me was kind of over the top and actually a bit harsh. But hey anything to win right?
-
Why are people saying her speech is harsh while at the same time stating that she has to take the criticism and deal with it.
Uh....double standards? Yes.
Especially with those that love that John Stewart clip of him pointing out Republican's hypocrisy.

I love to hear anything which slams repuglicans into the ground. They are the most offensive and shameless creatures known to man. They are the first to strike and then bitch about it when you hit them back twice as hard. Down with repugliucan punks like Emperor George Bush, Dickhead Cheney, Rumsfeld and all the other criminal cohorts...half of which are now serving time in jail.

Joan:
I agree that the Democrats need to come out strongly against Sarah Palin. But they don't have to sink to the petty snarling and invective of the Republicans. In Ms. Palin's case, you simply have to call what she is: a liar.
In her speech, Ms. Palin lied about her support of the "bridge to nowhere," and about the sale of the governor's plane on Ebay. She lied about Obama not authoring a single major law or reform. She lied about Obama's desire to raise taxes on the middle-class and give special rights to Al Qaeda terrorists.
The Democrats (and the media) should not tiptoe around the fact that Sarah Palin appears incapable of telling the truth.
Her pathological lying doesn't make her the new Obama; it makes her the new Nixon.

During the debates I hope no one asking questions backs down on her because she's a woman. She needs to be asked the same hard questions as the other candidates. Fair is Fair! Now I really am sick of everyone playing the victim card or sexism card or race card. If you want to run for office you have to be able to take the hard questions, comments and everything in your life is under the microscope.. PERIOD. Remember they represent this country. And we need to look at them as just people, not Gender or Race. They are Americans running for higher office. Which AMERICAN can do the job best and is the best qualified given the state of our country, economy and foreign policy. Palin can't have sarcastic comments during the debates unless she want to lose. Yeah she may think it's cute but it's not. And yeah.. she's no Hillary. They couldn't be further apart in beliefs, ideology, and especially experience.

well do you think obama wrote his speech. oh i am sorry i am not supposed to say that or i will be called a racist that i am saying that he cant write lol anything said about obama is racist so turn about is fair play

Obama needs to run ads on these five lies (below) and Democrats such as yourself, Joan, need to help publicize these facts.

Austinite,
yes Obama is the primary writer of his speeches. It's been proven. You should do more reading. It appears you are out of touch of what's happening in the campaign.
So, if you're a racist,. I don't know, but I do know you don't read much. Are you one of those low information voters that Barack is spending useless time trying to attact? The dying American breed!
-
cbe... Are you serious? There was no need to call me out and attack me. I just believe that all 4 Candidates need to be able to answer the hard questions during the debates and not play the race or gender card. In a nut shell no whinning. It's just time for us as a country to move beyond seeing others as anything other than Americans.
And I am seriously OFFENDED that you would call me a racist in anyway or form. I am very knowledgeable about the campaign and I am not a racist in anyway or form.
I think you may have been taking about Keysters response and not mine. I wrote the response starting out with "During the debates.. "
Anyway to think that I am not educated on this topic let me inform you that I read several papers per day, I read The Economist, I talk to people and friends about this, if I have questions about personal records of the candidates I digged into the documentation to find out the truth. I listen to NPR and my local public television station. But most importantly I get involved... as a community organizer (DAMN community organizers.. ha ha). And to answer any other questions or hesitations anyone would have about my background: I have a Masters Degree, I am Hispanic, I am married with two children to Caucasian man , I own a small business, I was a delegate to the Republican Convention may years ago but I am no longer Republican. I am a Moderate. I used to be a local state lobbyist for affordable housing and clean air and energy. I get involved on may local issues. I hardly call myself as uneducated.
I think ya'll got me mixed up with Keysters!
-
You are correct, Joan, that this woman is a mean-spirited, divisive individual and fits right in with the ideology and attack methods of the Republican Party. That is why she was chosen and that is why McCain better hire a food taster if he becomes president.
Palin is the future of the Party and it's not a pretty picture. She is actually scary and what is worse, the Democrats are already folding into their fetal position when confronted by an aggressive Republican. If they adopt a "hands off" policy toward this pit bull she is going to bite and they can kiss their ass goodbye. This country will not recover from a McCain/Palin presidency. -
keyster1976 - you got it right!
As for what Obama had anything to say, well,
All he does is ....OOPS...Hang on. Let me get my Obama Doll and pull his string...OK Ok..1st pull..."CHANGE...WE NEED CHANGE."...OK Second Pull. "INFLATE YOUR TIRES...INFLATE YOUR TIRES...Uhhh Sounds like solid advice to fix our problems....OK OK...One more pull. "DAMN THAT SARA PALIN....DAMN THAT SARA PALIN"-

I have to say that Joe Biden gave the best comment about the RNC, "deafening silence." about the issues. If this is going to be a "personality" contest, I think the Republicans look at who they are selling. Personally, I think this woman is not an example of all women, I have a special needs child and I know that you arrange your schedule around that child. But when you have money, I guess that's someone else's problem. I guess you throw out the nuturing quality a mother possess.
Another thing I trying to wrap around is how she brags about selling the governor's jet, what do she think about the man she is running for. Parking is "Straight Talk" bus for the lavish, media friendly "Straight Talk" jet. The main reason the media can't say anything bad about Johnny or Sarah.
I just don't trust her. Their a deep mystery about her. But first and foremost, the issues matter to me. She can't relate to my life story.
I am a single mom, with a special needs child, and I work my a** off everyday to question wheter to buy food, gas, or pay that bill, and only have five dollars left from payday. I have to take off work when my son have a seizure or I have to work overtime to pay for his medical expenses. I'm am trying to do the responsible thing and take care of me and my child, and I lost my husband unexpectedly, I guess it's my fault....right! The republicans have nothing to offer, and this staging of this woman just to win the election isn't going to cut it for me...I'm voting responsible...not off of stories, lies, and fear....the ISSUES, which Barrack Obama displayed in detail in his acceptance speech. -
tblagg- It's obvious that an Obama/Biden supporter such as you is out of touch with reality; so let me set you straight as far as "deafening silence" goes: in an article written by David Limbaugh (Newsmax.com), he shows, and evidences, Obama's Abortion Stance is very clear: "Obama's own words", he writes, "as he articulates his opposition to the bill seeking to protect a baby born alive as a result of a botched abortion. 'Essentially, adding an additional doctor who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion.'
"Translation: Obama will not theoretically burden a woman's right to abort her child, but he will actually burden an already-born infant's chances of surviving.
Barack Obama was the only member of the Illinois Senate to speak against a bill that would have granted legal protection to already-born babies still alive after a failed abortion. He used his power to prevent those innocent babies from having the best chance to survive. The evidence speaks for itself. It doesn't get much colder than that."
So, tblagg, it looks like you want a man in power to kill innocent born babies even though they are not exactly "perfect".
In an interview with John McCain on NBC a week before his speech at the GOP convention, he was asked by an NBC reporter, "When does the rights of an unborn child start?"
McCain's reply without forethought: "At conception".
What would've been Obama's reply? He stumbles, mumbles and incurs his prior voting record and still believes in it (but I'll bet you he'll soon recall his own legislative record and "change" his mind again!) Is that what you really want? Is this a responsible figure headed towards our heart of our country, the foundation that our forefathers and countrymen started it out to be?
I'll vote more responsibly than you and with this issue at hand, and being a veteran I know what's at stake for our country. Obama is a lot more scarier than you think and he'll ruin and disrupt this country before he sets foot into our White House.-

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. AP Saturday September 6 2008
“As governor, Palin originally supported earmarks for a controversial Alaska project dubbed the ``bridge to nowhere.'' But she dropped her support after the state's likely share of the cost rose. She hung onto $27 million to build the approach road to the bridge.”- By CHARLES BABINGTON -Associated Press Writer
So it seems that there is a 27 million dollar approach road being built to the “bridge to nowhere” that is not being built. Now that seems more than a little crazy

So its Obama vs Palin in this election?
I agree that she is a dangerous loon - similar to Bush: supposed wholesome values, no substance and very dangerous world view. Considering the fact she has no real power at the moment why is the media giving her so much attention, publicity and respect? You are fueling the myth that she and the far right are credible opponents to the Democrats, when really, because of Bush's unpopularity, they should be on their way out. Her speech was predictable bs as she has no substance whatsoever, so why even mention her in the same breath as the intellectually superior Obama? The fact they attacked him at the RNC shows they have very few positive ideas. If he responds he is immediately lowered to their level.
By all means the liberal media should expose and ridicule anybody who believes in religious social conservativism, but by showing fear and respect to this ideology you are galvanising it.
-
I totally agree! She was a snake the way she attacked Barack Obama and mocked all ordianary working class people that benefit form community organizers, how elitist of her and GOP!
We need to PUSH mainstream media to question her absence from taking interviews. What is GOP trying to hide, the truth. We need to find out quickly what she is totally about. It's the media's responsibility to inform the voting public.
