Sen. Barack Obama said he was "puzzled" when Gov. Sarah Palin scoffed at his early career as a community organizer, which he said was just the kind of "country first" action that the Republicans should endorse.
Presidential hopeful chats with George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview.

"It's curious to me that they would mock that, when I, at least, think that that's exactly what young people should be doing," the Democratic presidential nominee said in an exclusive interview on "This Week."

Given how mean-spirited Palin’s speech was, particularly her community organizer digs, I thought that this was quite snappy:-)

“Mrs. Palin needs to be reminded that Jesus Christ was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

It make no sense, less government means people becoming more active, but if people becoming more active is worthless, don't we need more government?

Use of phrases like "country first" is why he's not getting my vote

Am I the only one that realizes that Republicans don't care about snide remarks like that? All they heard was "pro-life, lower taxes, hockey mom, 9/11 9/11 9/11."

Palin's from the Mid-west, the saddle of conservative American values, don'tcha know? Lets not forget Dick Cheney's "mini-me McCain" is who we're voting on here.

Obama gets my vote! I thought that Palin's speech was cutting and attacking. She showed that she has no class at all. Obama shows what type of person he is by his mature responses to the Republicans constant immature attacks.

Why would they mock Obama for helping people who were unemployed or had problems w/esbestos (idk how to spell that)? I've never been a Republican supporter but I didn't think that they could be that dumb.

Mr. Obama said it.... "They must think you are stupid." Stupid to believe that McCain/Palin are "change agents." Change is becoming this campaigns' ping pong ball and we are missing the point. Gandhi said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Be it. Don't talk about it, don't pontificate about it. Be It. Action word. Demonstrative. Maybe Nike just drafted off that great statesman and made us all "Just do it."
Whatever, the call to action is now. Be it.

Obama runs Project Vote!, which registers 150,000 new voters in Chicago, then begins teaching law at University of Chicago.

Palin wins city council seat in Wasilla, an Alaska town of about 5,500.

    Enough said!

Nothing wrong with being a community organizer. Mrs. Palin only said it didn't qualify Mr. Obama to be the next President of the United States. He has little Senate experience as well. He and Palin could both use a few more years with training wheels. Too bad Obama is running at the top of the ticket.

watch this comment being used here, here, here, here and here

Palin's comments reveal that she does not understand the roll of community organizers in improving the lives of average Americans. How can she put "America first" If she cannot value the great responsibilities in being an effective public servant in one of America's largest cities?

"'He chose somebody who may be even more aligned with George Bush – or Dick Cheney, or the politics we've seen over the last eight years – than John McCain himself is,' Obama said..."

This is true. And it reminds me of the Bush cabinet when Dubya first took office in 2001. To create the illusion of diversity (the "big tent"), Bush's initial cabinet included a Latino, some women, a couple Asians, and a few African Americans. But, despite their corporeal differences, this cabinet was ideologically homogeneous. Palin isn't change.

It was like making fun of someone for something they did that was clearly better than anything you were doing at that time. Using their logic I'm going to make fun of Phelps for winning 8 golds.

Don't blame the talking head guys, blame the script.

She's not mean, she's just a puppet. Wait for the debate. If she manages to spin more misplaced derisiveness AWAY from a teleprompter, then you may call her mean.

McCain and Palin were both in attack mode during their uninspiring speeches. Although Republicans like to say that the democrats always turn campaigns nasty and personal it is the Republicans doing what they always do. Attack attack attack, nasty innuendos, scare tactics. Republican ads are always based on fear and fake patriotism. This fake patriotism is what calls idealistic young men and women to fight when their President calls upon them.

Our son served three terms in Iraq as a Marine. He served with courage and distinction and saw horrendous and unforgettable carnage. Once, his vehicle overturned in a filthy canal and he was trapped underwater. He remembers drawing in his last breath and choking on the filthy water. The Marines with him struggled to overturn the vehicle --successfully--pulled him out and administered rescue breathing. Unlike so many he returned home to us.

We now know that Bush fabricated the evidence he needed for the war he wanted. That is why Kucinich has called for Bush to be impeached.

Ask Bush about his grandfather and how he lost his company during World War II because he was selling materials to the Nazi's. Now that is REAL patriotism!

the most impressive thing about obama is how he keeps his cool so he responds constructively and sensibly.

What idiot thought it was a good idea to demean community service? Where is that in the "small town values" handbook?
