Image...
US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may be struggling to nudge ahead of his Republican rival in polls at home, but people across the world want him in the White House, a BBC poll said.

    This does not help Obama....

    Because he has no spine.

Why else would the world want him as President? They don't live here.

Oh wait America effects everyone else....but people down play it until the election. Lovely.

Who cares what they have to say. They bash America and then they only care when it suits them....their opinion is invalid.

oh lord, i can just imagine the new ads " do you want the WORLD to tell you who to vote for!? Go against the grain and vote McCain!" or something equally horrid.

Could it be possible that they want Obama because he will actually know what the kyoto treaty is?

Or maybe because he is interested in working with them?

There are a thousand reasons why and all you guys can find to complain about is a philosophy of us versus them.

Can you guys substantiate why it is that because Obama has the support of other nations, it somehow makes it a poor choice for us?

it really does not matter what the rest of the world wants at this point.
We need to unify in our own country. I hope that all the talk that I hear about voting actually happens. The last four presidential elections have had horrible voter turnouts...

Obama message has spread.... but as usual the United States of America is ahead of the curve..... His world tour poll numbers may have bounced but he took his eye
off the poll where it matters.... Over confidence has been on display and now he is paying the price. His change message was seriously injured by picking Biden... The core message he has projected has no screen or canvas to be seen now.

when was this newsworthy? it has been known from day 1 that obama is the real change candidate and the rest of the world hasn't forgotten. this is a no brainer. i find it funny that obama has been tied to lack of foreign policy experience when we can clearly see that 8 years of bush has done nothing to aid his experience. it's about foresight and knowledge, not just how much time you've done it. the rest of the world is pissed at our poor foreign policy. does it really strike anyone as odd that they want the real change candidate, too???

We are known in the world as "stupid Americans". The world is tired of "us" (government)too. We need to change this fact. We talk about "Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave", but can't get over color and background. The world can turn on us at anytime, we could be a war torn Country at any time.

The Idea of Change is based on your personal perspective.... who believes picking Biden helped our perception of Obama's message?
and if you do.... please define so we can understand..
Obama swiftly sank his own boat of change!
    Blame him
    McCain logically picked Palin
    Funny how perceptions Change!

    Shoulda, coulda, picked Hillary!

I still have yet to hear a credible argument as to why B.Ob shouldn't be president. No, he is not Jesus, nor is his platform perfect. However, in light of the decisions available to the public, I think there is no question what the lesser of two evils is. If you are rational, thinking, patriotic citizen, how can you possibly justify voting for another republican administration that has sent us backward in almost every way?

It was very obvious that Hillary intended on picking Biden as her VP if she was the nominee.

So what would you say if the tables were turned?

Hillary was not running on a change message so it is hard to say...
Biden is a bad pick for anyone... way too many issues in his past and the inability to not say something bad... bad from a political point of view...

Not surprising. Obama would work to renew the worlds trust in the US through diplomacy, while still protecting and securing our interests worldwide.

I thought this was one of the few places were people with some intelligent gathered. Your comment about Obama only demonstrates a lazy backwards mind. Perhaps the world is hoping that this country will not fall into fascism and theocracy "the direction of republicans" as other nations have. Take your simple-minded ass back to rushes site. Keep it there you don't have the IQ to be here.

CreditFigaro, Obama is a bad choice for us because, as a communist he is more interested in the power in the state to control the people. He is anti Constitution. He is a danger to freedom.

Who cares who the world wants to be president here in the U.S. We have enough problems with a Supreme Court deciding cases based on international law or what other countries think. The last thing we need in the White House is a person who takes the pulse of the world prior to conducting business.

I hope the title of this thread was not meant as a reason to vote for Obama although with his legislative record we either don't know much about him but what little we know makes it impossible to pull the lever for him.

He needs to be discarded like a hanging chad.

I sound like a broken record... This election is NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST. This decision is going to be either the breaking point in our Nation's history. If you want to vote for someone because they're popular please go vote in Dancing With the Stars instead of this up-and-coming election.

Interesting results. As for not caring what the rest of the world thinks--last time I checked, America was a part of the world, and we can't get our way by bullying everyone in our path. Having a President with a favorable reputation in the international community would put us in a better position to deal effectively with the rest of the world and probably be to our advantage overall.

God bless America for allowing people the freedom to defend their opinions. I wouldn't want it any other way.

On the other hand, some of these comments are so shockingly shallow and biased that I wonder if things will ever truly improve.

Paratus, maybe you should take some of your own advice: "Sometimes it is better not to say anything rather than to display to the entire world that you are a fool."

In any European country Obama would win an election against McCain right away. Even if it was against a different person than McCain. This kinda shows what kind of controversy there is in America, compared with European countries. In my pesonal opinion, many Americans try to hold on to old values, whereas change is needed. funny how this is Obama's slogan...

I, too, am surprised at the shallowness and narrow-mindedness of some of the commentators. It's not their problem, so forget them and their opinions..? That is ridiculous to a point I can't even explain! I mean, its apparently ok for (some) people in America to have their say, but if someone outside the country has an opinion, shut them out? Because, clearly, there is no way that we could possibly be influenced by the single person who is supposed to be "the leader of the free world." Notice, the phrase says "world" not "country." And it's not that we're trying to vote in your election.. notice it's just an opinon? You know, it's funny, I thought the free were entitled to opinons...

If a substantial portion of Americans really believe that Obama and Biden are the ones who pose a threat to freedom, maybe they do need extra guidance and assistance from the world.

On the contrary, the world would NOT prefer Obama as President of the U.S.

They would not prefer the U.S. to have any president, people, land, ect, ect.

I'm sick of the U.S. elections spilling into the rest of the world, I don't care who wins or loses, I just want it to end.

The founding fathers are rolling in their graves at the sight of such idiocy.

Im fine with people holding a different point of view, however if your going to pull stuff out of your ass, such as Obama being a communist, then I have a problem.

Oh well, hopefully this country will wise up, I cant stand the constant propoganda, slander and rhetoric the Republicans throw at us.

  •

It is absolutely relevant what the rest of the world thinks of us. We're moving to a more globalized, unified front. Why the hell would we write off the entire world? Oh, I see, because that's what we've been doing. That's valid.
