These new findings shed light on the mysterious shift these leviathans made away from land.
The ancestors of whales once strode on land on four legs, just as other mammals do. Over time, as they evolved to dwell in water, their front legs became flippers while they lost their back legs and hips, although modern whales all still retain traces of pelvises, and occasionally throwbacks are born with vestiges of hind limbs.
A great deal of mystery surrounds how the anatomy of the first whales changed to propel them through the water. A key piece of that puzzle would be...

And, as humans evolve, they will lose legs and feet.
The balancing of nature is ironic that way. -
Curious what would have happened had they remained on land to evolve, especially with their intelligence. They could be trying to conserve humans and debating whether or not to allow commercial hunting -- oh, I mean scientific research.

believable....evoluation causes changes, and fusing of bones to make a different bone structure is understandable.

Well apparantly according to the Dogon tribe in Africa, our long time ancestors were visited by a race from Sirius called the Nommos, who were an amphibian race with legs. They hung out and helped mankind then buggered off back to Sirius when a great calamity hit the Earth. Some stayed and took on the form that we know today as dolphins and whales.
They also brought ganja to earth. Cannabis: two dogs : Sirius A & B : the dog star.(Put the aliens in this and you get all the answers)

I am sure I must have been an orca before being human and intend to go back to being one again. They treat family as sacred and I bet they have more wisdom than humans.

The fact that whales still have pelvis bones, after all the long years since they needed them.
Or if I was a teacher in a British school: God might have put it there to test us.

I hope we find the link soon to show those who do not believe in evolution that they are morons!

Cool!

AH ! A land whale run!

The Sumerians also had a fish like creature who founded their civilisation, called Dagon. Linked with the Annunaki and Nephilim mentioned in the bible. There are many pre-flood legends that involve folk from above. If you find this hard to swallow check out ancient rock art and medieval art that feature strange species and UFOs. (Nanoo nanoo Tom.)

Hmmm...I am intrigued by the possibility that some of our ancestors had whale drumsticks .
-
I do not particularly like remakes, but I think it would be cool if they remade "Happy Feet" with whales!

I mean, they are mammals...
-
but does this mean that every water mammal was originally a land animal?
and what prompted the anatomical changes. why didn't they just stay on land with us and the ducks??
