Muslim leader threatens to kill Paul McCartney over Israel gig

Image...
An Islamic militant leader warned that former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney could be the target of suicide bombers unless he cancels his first concert in Israel, reported the British Sunday Express.

The celebrated rock star plans to arrive in Israel as part of a world tour, and give a single concert at Tel Aviv's Park Hayarkon on September 25.

Omar Bakri, an Islamic preacher, said McCartney's decision to perform as part of Israel's 60th anniversary celebrations made him the enemy of Muslims worldwide.

"If he values his life, Mr. McCartney must not come to Israel," Bakri was quoted as saying. "He will not be safe there. The sacrifice operatives will be waiting for him."

Bakri added, "Instead of supporting the people of Palestine in their suffering, McCartney is celebrating the atrocities of the occupiers," Bakri was quoted as saying. "The one who is under occupation is supposed to be getting the help."

McCartney was also been pressured by pro-Palestinian groups to cancel the show, but has resisted.

"I was approached by different groups and political bodies who asked me not to come here. I refused. I do what I think, and I have many friends who support Israel," McCartney said in an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth.
Pro-Palestinian groups have frequently called on international academics and prominent cultural figures to boycott Israel over its occupation of the West Bank and blockade of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

I'm sure McCartney will ignore these cowardly threats; he's one to put his principles above all else. Empty threats aside.

Muslim extremists are a load of fuck up honestly who else will the threaten. It's just so stupid how they feel they can dictate to us and ruin the life's of innocent people, their just like a bunch of babies throwing their toys out of the prams...

the rants are just that, things of madmen
but in fairness to freedom of speach there is a point
I do think he should have organised 2 gigs - a win/win position for Macca
don't forget for his generation one of the mottos was "never forget"
so the promotion of peace for both sides would, in theory, mean less deaths on both sides no?

he shouldn't give in to terror threats though

    the title is wrong
the leader guy wasn't threatening him

he was telling him there would be people trying to kill him

from those quotes i can say that the leader could have absolutely no (direct) connection to the attackers

Religious extremism is crazy. Case and point.

It's infuriating that the so-called leader of a principally peaceful religion would declare McCartney an enemy to all Muslim's and make such a poorly veiled threat.

Im blown away that there are actual people this ignorant in our world today. How is it that these two religions, who at one time were family, are so hell bent on killing each other. They all need look at themselves and grow up. Its sad that a worldwide uniting force such as sir paul has to be judged for playing music.

I remember this guy on a documentary for Channel 4. The thing that stood out was that he had mentioned that the west is controlled by Zionists so we should not by western products like Coca-Cola. But he went into a Pound Shop and bought large plastic Coca-Cola bottles that are made for despositing your loose coins. He bought these to raise money for Hamas. That always stood out to me.

It does appear to be a veiled threat by Omar Bakri, the title of this submission is inaccurate. Unfortunately, it is the Muslim extremists like these who give Muslims a bad name, much like the extremists of any religious sect.

Paul McCartney has done more to promote peace than anyone walking the planet. Anyone that would threaten him has no idea what peace is.

Where ever there are people who want peace, whether they are a dignified celebrity, or an average Israeli or Palestinian citizen, there is a reason to stop spreading hate, violence and death.

Perhaps instead of BOMBS maybe we should also be dropping psychologists on these these folks? Maybe what's needed to help stop terrorism a generation from now is psychological INTERVENTIONS on the adults raising the kids in the Middle East?

Seems to me many of these clerics who espouse violence might be simply be suffering from GENERATIONS of fighting and hence PTSD?

I mean isn't it a matter of personal psychology that ultimately creates a suicide bomber or a iPod owner?

All you have to do is see "THEY" are as human as we are...
