Ferguson: Take this thing seriously, this is important!

'Never heard of Craig Ferguson before this, however, this video earns some brownie points with me;

'on this Late, Late, Late-Show-rant that I'm sure nobody watched -- (unless you're one-of-many-out-of-work, which then he's Preaching-To-The-Choir awake and hungry enough to pay attention) -- to figure out we do need some change...

'he reads young people for that reality-show-urge to sexy-up-the-vote for them to get motivated to do what their supposed to do anyway, get off their fat-sloppy-asses and exercise...'eh, yeah, exercise fatso, I said it...

'he maybe said it just a little better than I would have -- 'exercise your right to vote...'Are we so lost we have to be sold our own democratic right!?'

'the irony here is that it takes a straight-off-the-boat-Foreigner -- that I'd classify as borderline-funny -- (there is a reason they stuck him on at 2 in the morning) -- to put into perspective at whats at stake here. (HenryCruz.com)

    • My girlfriend and I watch the debates, read the links and try to stay pretty much informed; but that just put so much into perspective in such a concise way. Props

    • He makes some good points. We need that outside perspective from time to time. Hey, in the end, none of us U.S. Citizens can really run for president, because all we elect are politicians.

    • Indeed. Bravo, Mr. Ferguson.
It's nice to see people who have real common sense and enough the guts to say it like it is...or should be, anyway.

    • I saw Ferguson go off on this rant the other night and I was thinking while I watched it "god I wish more people could see this." Bravo

    • When the candidate said, "lets leave the family out of it,....." he was talking about the bad guys habit of dragging the family member's through the mud, just so we won't be questioning them about what they plan to do if the stupid voters vote the bad guys in again.

These candidates are real people whom, when they campaign, if the family is around while the campaign is going on, they get to be with their family.

I can't believe that "standup" guy can't understand this. "Leave the family out of it", means, it's off limits to hurt my family! Why would anyone be insulted if a candidate's family was with them?

The bad guys candidate says that we should submit to many, small town hall meetings. The protocol say's that the candidate who is behind, always asks for a debate to discuss the issues, so he can get exposure that he might otherwise not get. So, the candidate who is ahead is naturally reluctant to allow the candidate who is behind, to get any much needed exposure, so he declines the debate request.

So NOW, the bad guys candidate says, that because the debate was declined, then he gets to publish all kind of smears and 30 second swiftboat tv ads, because the leading candidate declined the debates.

See......the bad guys candidate is behind, because he hasn't got anything to offer the people. He is busy holding $1000 a plate fund-raisers. He hasn't got time for the people. He is not interested in what the people have to say. The other candidate is not holding $1000 a plate fundraisers. He is going to each citizen and asking for just $15, or whatever they can afford. He is going to these individual citizens, who just happen to have the TITLE to this freekin country.

    • I think the best thing about this video clip, other than the fact that he's 'spot on' -- is his outsiders view, which I can imagine if I was just allowed into this country; and the wonderful things we take for granted...sometimes it takes a dude with a heavy accent that's on a comedy chat show to shake us up a bit...no?

    • One of Craig Ferguson's greatest attributes is that he prefers the unscripted monologue. I never know what he's going to say next. He speaks his mind and takes risks. As a "newly minted" US citizen, his perspective on our society is a fresh one.
I thank him for his candor about how we do or do not vote.
He's given me much to think about.

    • Why is it that immigrants are the only ones who really understand what the fuck is up, and why the USA is (supposed to be) the greatest country in the world?

I have known people who have immigrated from India, Russia, Cuba, Yugoslavia, Poland...

They are all fierce patriots. They know the bill of rights, and they know their role as a citizen.

Ralph Nader would be proud of Mr Ferguson. I reccomend everybody reads his book "the Seventeen Traditions"

    • If only Craig Ferguson had a little more influence. The only person on TV sticking it to us, and saying F this personality contest, elections are about issues. We all need a good kick in the pants.

    • He was on bill Maher and was just as fristrated at the lack of brain power that some americans seem to do, and the stupidity of the mass media.

Stop focusing on these peoples lives and more on their political career and what they plan on doing for this country, why the hell does it matter what eating dinner with them is like? It has nothing to do with how they will vote or decide for this country.

    • Very funny, and at the same time he makes some good points and is very well spoken. I always liked this guy, but didn't know he was a U.S. citizen. His perspective as a naturalized citizen is a valuable one. I'm already registered and anxious to vote, but I can see this getting through to people who need a nudge. I hope lots of people see it.

    • Here, here! Great Addition, Big Craig!

On the 4th of November, let's all get out there and do a sacred duty!

      Vote!

Remember, Sanjaya is an American citizen who can win on a write-in if we don't vote!

    • This is something we need to see more of; proud Americans. Not some stylized slick soundbite. We have a real opportunity( before the people of the world) , to change. On issues; issues not being addressed by American media. News should never be about 'popular personalities', that sadly is tabloid tactics. sorry current ;) Or should we remain being good little earners with the hope someone in the media grows a backbone and asks substantive questions about policy not personality before Americans cast their vote?

    • I on occasion catch Craig Ferguson and he was extremely vocal and proud when he became a citizen. It is those who have to put in the extra effort who seem to appreciate what the U.S. has to offer. By the way, many people have jobs that make it possible and even imperative that they be up at 2AM. He often comes up with good insights and isn't always "politically correct" that is why I choose to watch him when I can.
