Brazilian superstar Ronaldo says he could join Manchester City's Samba army on a staggering £150,000 aweek in January.

Former Brazil World Cup winner Ronaldo, 31, met City representives in Rio de Janeiro, and said "It's the best offer I've received and it will be very interesting to play with Robinho.

"Me and him, together, we can score more than 50 goals."

City are prepared to offer Ronaldo an amazing 18-month contract - as long as he can prove his fitness. Ex-Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan striker Ronaldo is still one of the biggest names in football.

This is hilarious speculation, I think I'm fitter than Ronaldo - and I'd play for Manchester City for a tenth of the figure. 31, overweight, unfit and £150k a week? Nice work if you can get it.

If they sign Ronaldo it pretty much proves that the new owners of City have little to no idea about football and what it takes to build a successful team.

Surely Mark Hughes will have something to say about paying £150,000 a week for a player with a long history of personal problems who hasn't been anywhere near his best for years?

You're right, I doubt Hughes would be interested in him! Thing is, I'm not really sure what Hughes can do about it - I think it's only a matter of time until the new owners go after someone like Mourinho ... money talks.

Money does indeed talk, but it can't bring you success on the football pitch.

Something I think the Abu Dhabi owners are gonna end up finding out the expensive way...

We're in '08 not '98 but then again again, looking back - some of his dribbling was untouchable.

Man City have said they are no longer intrested. Maybe they thought they could rival Chelsea on the Shevchenko flop.

As for Mark Hughes I doubt he will be at Man City long. If he fails to get into the top4 this season he will likely be out the door.

Well he is a free agent but lets be honest they would be better off signing me.

He's still only 31? Sign him! It'll be great, even if he's still a bit fat, his skills will liven up any game whether or not he does any running!

I agree with Pardon. City has got to be brainless to sign an aging star who's prime has pasted him by. This team needs young and talented stars to build a EPL trophy run with in the next five years. Robinho being signed definitely sits well with that plan, so lets hope that Hughes has some backbone and tells Ronaldo to frack off! Glory Glory Man Untied!

i think he went crazy last year with the blowout. he admits to being "FAT" and all he has to do is lose the weight and start exercising again. are you serious? it's time to give it up. or take advantage of sitting on the bench at city.
p.s. if you and robinho score more than fifty goals i will tatoo your face on my face.
