20 ways the future let us down

Image...
When I was growing up there was so much the world and technology promised me - flying cars, living on the moon, cloned people and Virtual worlds to name a few. Some of which I'm more than happy haven't come about, but the way we eat, travel and exist today is a far cry from what we were promised back in the last century!!! Here's a list of our futures great failings!!!

I've seen a flying car on the news but there are real problems doing this..

Basically, you have to become a pilot...

    Infrastructure too.

    Look at it this way...

    Did anyone invision the internet?

    Nope:)

For a start we don't live on the moon, wearing 1950's chic silver spacesuits. The absence of flying cars is a real bummer I must say.

Terrafugia, a company that's about to develop a flying car. (kind of, more like a retractable plane)

This article is cool, but is poorly put together, reading it I was thinking to myself we either have that or something like that. For example we do not have the folding screen but we do have ipods and blackberry's.

The future did not let me down.
These unnecessary technologies originated during an era of irresponsible conspicuous consumption and ignorance of our impact and relation to the environment. I'm not dismissing dreaming up creative ideas, just be cautious of people who say this or that technology will solve our energy or food needs, just as people like Clarke were thinking these nano-bots, teleporters, jetpacks, and space tourism would make our lives better.
If you really want a better idea of what our future might hold, read Buckminster Fuller or Wendel Berry. Tomorrow is today, just later.

If cell phone signals are screwing up the bird and bee population, I'd hate to see what teleportation would do.

Can we get out the fantasy world of RoboCop and Total Recall and just love this natural world?! Thats what the future should promise, a sustainable Earth, not how to drain it and successfully find another planet to escape to and destroy.

Yes, because what everyone needs is a computer implanted in their bodies... Sorry, but most of these futuristic ideas are pretty ridiculous.
