Dennett, 61, the Progressive Party's candidate for Vermont Attorney General, said Thursday she will prosecute President Bush for murder if she's elected Nov. 4.
Dennett, an attorney and investigative journalist, says Bush must be held accountable for the deaths of thousands of people in Iraq — U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians. She believes the Vermont attorney general would have jurisdiction to do so.
She also said she would appoint a special prosecutor and already knows who that should be: former Los Angeles prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi, the author of "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder," a new book.
"Someone has to step forward," said Dennett, flanked by Bugliosi at a news conference announcing her plan. "Someone has to say we cannot put up with this lack of accountability any more."
Dennett and two others are challenging incumbent Attorney General William Sorrell, a Democrat, in the Nov. 4 election.
Bugliosi, 74, who gained fame as the prosecutor of killer Charles Manson, said any state attorney general would have jurisdiction since Bush committed "overt acts" including the military's recruitment of soldiers in Vermont and allegedly lying about the threat posed by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in speeches that were aired in Vermont and elsewhere.

HEY, SOME AMERICANS SHOW BALLS & DIGNITY !
VERMONT TOWNS BACK INDICTMENT OF BUSH & CHENEY / In Vermont, voters in the towns of Brattleboro and Marlboro approved measures Tuesday calling for the indictment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for crimes against the Constitution. The symbolic votes instruct the police department in each town to arrest Bush and Cheney or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere if they ever step foot in the towns.

Need to make sure Bush and Cheney don't leave the country before they can act.
-
hell yeah........there is hope in america
-
It'll never happen, we might as well forget the last eight years as a bad dream and move on to brighter days. I think karma will have a way of coming back for Bush and Cheney...

Horray !!!

Here is an interesting article in the N.Y times I came across about Charlotte Dennett titled:

-
How about we elect the first politician to actually bring charges against Bush'Cheney?
-
Hope she gets elected and goes through with this. It's not right for ANYONE to commit crimes and then just walk away. Justice must be served or things like this will be repeated. Now we have people in Alaska who aren't going to testify in "troopergate" because their Gov. is a candidate. It's all just too outrageous.

This is just one more reason to believe that Bushco will never leave office. They have too many avenues of recourse in front of them now to give up power. The major failure of our economy is almost at the point where Bush could certainly claim martial law and suspend the election. Or he could start his long-wanted war with Iran, or he could sit back and wait until Israel starts a war with Iran and then jump in, or if we keep fucking around, we'll start a war with Pakistan or even Russia. Any new war could definitely be an excuse for martial law. They know that theyre wanted men and women. They know there are going to be many factions coming after them after they leave office, both domestic and abroad. And there are plenty of ways for these guys to make an excuse to remain in power and maintain the protection of position. The law certainly can't (or won't) touch them while theyre in office.

Bush and his cronies should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but think about what could happen to all the people needed to testify. We can't relocate the whole country through the witness protection program...
-
This is absurd. Bush will never go down for anything. It would make America look bad to prosecute our former President. Besides, it would just be a huge waste of time and money. He would have the godliest team of lawyers and researchers backing him up anyway.

I imagine this is just the first in many legal hurtles Bush will face in 2009.
-
I'm with you Charlotte! The arrest and conviction of Bush and his cohorts for crimes against humanity would truly be a day of celebration. What they have done to disgrace this country and our Constitution should never stand. Too bad the chickensh** members of Congress don't understand their duties and the oaths they took. Just make sure they don't leave the country after the election and run South.

I wish more candidates were running on this platform.....
