David Letterman Reacts to John McCain Suspending Campaign

John McCain canceled a scheduled appearance on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" mere hours before he was slated to tape the show Wednesday as part of the suspension of his campaign, MSNBC reported on air Wednesday afternoon. Keith Olbermann will appear on Wednesday's "Late Show" in McCain's place.

I would be pissed if I was lied to as well.
McCain is still in NY tonight, he never went to Washington.

McCain's coming unglued. Has anybody else noticed the left side of his face, which usually is a little more relaxed than the right is a LOT more relaxed? Something unhealthy is going on with that man.

I haven't seen the show and that clip up there threatens to spoil my fun. I'll weigh in after viewing.

McCain, for shame. Ron Paul is a real winner.

  •

McCain didn't go back to Washington...he went across town to do an interview with Katie Couric! What a dumbass! It just gets better and better especially with the very recent video I saw on Oberman's show tonight of Sarah Palin standing in a church with a Witchdoctor's hand on her shoulder praying for financial aid! MY GOD! Do you need ANY more proof that McShame/McSame/ whatever needs to be put down like a wounded dog??

This is passive aggressive behavior on McCain's behalf for all the old man jokes.

Way to call him out DL. Show America what he's really like. Something "better" came along and he was all over it. So much for meaning what you say.

  •

Surely, no one is suggesting that Senator McCain is afraid of David Letterman.
    I...I don't believe it.

But you have to admit that Dave has a point "This doesn't smell right" what was McCain doing that he had to cancel being on the show?

Maybe he has been reading too much Doonesbury and thought one of his houses was being forclosed on?

So he had to fly out to all of them and check to be sure that they were still there

Obama should just hold his own question and answer session with questions from voters.

Why should he state that he doesn't care for what McCain wants to do...just let him do whatever and do accordingly.

This is one more reason I beleive John McCain can not be trusted. He is using this bailout issue to manipulate the campaign to his advantage. Another attempt to distract us from the real yucky issues that need to be discussed.

And surprise! Mr. President invites congress, Obama, and McCain to come sit down together and talk about it. It is obvious that McCain is doing politics as usual, even during this financial "crisis." McCain is making more distraction from the issues that need to be discussed.

Wait a second...if McCain suspended his campaign AND told Dave he canceled the interview to deal with the economy in Washington, isn't an interview with Katie Couric in New York on the same day...campaigning?

Obama and company need to jump all over this story on Thursday morning.

He (McCain) is SO pulling a Palin it's rather ironic and disconcerting, especially for a man who wants to be President. Call it maverick-ness, I call it dodging.

McCain may have once been a 'hero', but that all ended when he came home, cheated on his wife and left her for the other woman who had money and governmental ties.

No one can be called a hero when they are in it for personal gain.

I have always been a fan of Dave. When I was in college we used to watch him on the Late Night show on NBC. But after the way he let Chris Rock spout off and disrespect President Clinton I have no sympathy. Dave must be losing it to let someone talk about the greatest President of our lifetimes like that. He was there promoting the Clinton Global Iniative, promoting saving lives and peace in the world, and Chris Rock(head) treats him like some jerk. Sorry Dave, if you're going to let idiots like that have airtime, I have no sympathy for you.

Dave reminds me of that dad thats always trying to be cool around your friends and you just want to tell him to take a hike.

He did make me lol with that show. Its been awhile since I last laughed at him.

So John, your to busy Friday evening to debate?

As if the nation needs you to hang around a commission and throw your input into the ring!

What is it John- you never were in favor of regulation/oversight for 26 years and now all of sudden your involved with the conditions of a 70 billion dollar bailout because of a lack of oversight!

Sick Irony! Hes corrupt and inept!

Mccain are you strong enough, are you mentally capable, does your health allow you to do the hard work needed?
    Evidently not!

I think McCain does look ill... even after paying $5500 for a make-up job he still looks like crap and his face is lop-sided. And he seems a be senile... that will only get worse!
