Michigan house leadership stalls protection of parental rights

First they raise your taxes and now they want to raise your children. House Speaker was quoted as saying that your children are wards of the state. Parent's disagree and believe their children should be raised and cared for by parents not the state.

The link takes you to several guest speakers, including several legislators, family rights organizations, and more.

Lansing, Michigan. Several Michigan State Legislators voiced their positions and willingness to "press the button now" to allow voters the chance to approve a landmark parental rights amendment to the Michigan State Constitution. "Michigan Legislators and Family Rights Organizations from West Virginia, Florida, Ohio, and Michigan were present and in support of House Joint Resolution NN, which is the first of its kind nationwide," according to Lary Holland, Executive Director of Write to Parent, Inc.

Where does Obama and McCain stand on Parental Rights? McCain calls it a tar baby and Obama just wants to blame black fathers.

What we have in Michigan is a Democratic leadership that has literally violated Article IV Section 16 of our Constitution that aims to prevent these type of tactics by the house "rules" that cover the passage of our bills. If you have no right to parent, then you really have no other rights at all.

"First they raise your taxes and now they want to raise your children."
No truer quote has ever been spoken!
The government thinks they OWN our kids.....through family courts and the schools. We will no longer have any rights to our kids unless "we the people" vote for legislators who care about the family structure and honor constitutional law.

Excellent! Support Parental Rights in Michigan! Family Courts are stealing our children for Title IV-D profit!

"Wards of the State" Kinda knew the government felt that way but I never thought any of these traitors would admit it.

If thats the case I should file for 18 years of back child support.

My children are wards of the state? I don't think so. My children have the fundamental and Constitutional rights to be raised by their loving, fit, willing, and able father. Michigan is collecting millions of dollars in Title IV-D subsidies to strip our children from their parents. Dollars to destroy families!! Stop our family law courts from inflicting this abuse on ALL of us.

Children everywhere have the right and the need to know and love both loving and fit parents. There are no acceptions.

Parental rights must be respected and protected by all. Michigan House Joint Resolution NN seaks to insure just that. The framers of our constitution held these rights self-evident, our states do not.

The proposed amendment reads "Parents and legal guardians have a natural and fundamental right to direct the care, education, and upbringing of their children. No goverment action shall burden, abridge, or hinder this natural, fundamental right unless it is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest and is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest."

Government has kicked the door in on the american family. It's time for us to kick them out!

First of all, I support this cause very much, but if anyone thinks if this issue goes to a vote in a public election that it will pass in Michigan, you better wake up and smell the coffee people. It will get voted down by at least 65%. All you have to do is look at the number of people who have been thru this corrupt family court system, the family law lawyers making comfortable 6-7 digit yearly incomes and the family court judges the lawyers have in their back pockets, then the state senators these judges have in their back pockets. It's a numbers game you can't win. Until a organization can get a min. of 15k at a rally on the capital steps(not just at most a hundred or so people),then you will get these corrupt politicians to start taking notice on a family court system that doesn't leave the children without both parents with equal time. A politician, judge, any elected official lives and dies by votes and contributions. So until everyone gets on the same page on how this system works and makes their voice heard all together at these rallies and elections, nothing is ever going to change.

Just when I start to become jealous of my fellow activists in Michigan, it seems that your politicians take two steps backwards for each step forward.

They've stepped back so far with parental rights, I swear I saw Michigan reps entering the Ohio house.

Nevertheless, within four years, my goal is to cause at least one anti parent politician in Ohio to lose an election through our efforts working against them.

Just knock one of those degenerate miscreants out of office, and the others will surely listen.

I'm tired of these politicians telling us whether or not we have their permission to raise our children.

Keep your chins up, we will ultimately prevail.

Not the time to stay away from this debate: It is vital that the government and its good intentions stay away from the natural rights of children to their parents. The government of Michigan gets more money if they can separate as many children from their parents as possible. Conflict of interest? Yes. It would be more accurate to call it a human rights violation. I'm tired of this social experiment and will not be cooperating any more....Damn the consequences.

This has been a building problem. Our local School District pushed and pushed for us to put our daughter on ritalin. Our doctor told us it was nonsense and teachers these days only want students that are simple to teach. In the past teachers either were better educated, or more realistic about kids behaviour.

My "ADHD" daughter is now carrying a 3.6 gpa in 7th grade. Gosh I guess if we had given her pills, she might be 4.0.

Now the latest. The school called the SRS on us for her having bruises on her legs, not a lot of bruises mind you, I counted 6. I talked to the SRS lady for probably 2 hours and she was quite nice. She let us know there was no worry, that they just had to investigate all reports.

Well, as the SRS found out, we live on a farm. Not only that, but since she has 2 older brothers, my little girl happens to be a tomboy and plays football with her brothers. She said she didn't think any kid that played outside on a farm would ever get by without a bruise or 2.

Perhaps the next time she falls in gym and comes home with a goose egg on her forehead, I should report the school to the SRS, but I guess it only works in one direction.

The part that burns my ass is that being disabled, with plenty of email and phone time, there is likely not a parent who is more involved with communicating with all the kids teachers via email and phone. I even get daily homework reports so I can verify the kids have done their work.

She has a 3.6, my freshman son has a 3.48, and my oldest at home is graduating this year with a 3.7 and is torn between Columbia and Berkeley for his undergraduate degree....yeah, we sure must be some crappy parents.
This is the danger of government involvement, they rarely see nuance or subtlety, they see good or bad, and thats it. We were lucky to have a reasonably intelligent SRS rep.

The truth needs to be heard "The States are Making Billions from the Family Courts"
Guest What "We The People, The Tax-Payers, are paying for this."
The Government pays the States to have "single parents" to raise our children.

"Anyone who sees a father's positive role in a child's life as a threat, certainly has a agenda and children are not on it!  And no one will ever be able to say the F4J agenda is hidden or anything other than the need for children having equal access to both parents!"

Angry Harry's blog provides a good analysis of how the feminization of the US legal system mirrors propaganda tactics used by NAZI's.

Hermann Goering ... "The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

Feminists ... "The people can always be brought to the bidding of the feminist leaders. All you have to do is tell women and children that they are being attacked (by men) and denounce those who protest as 'supporters of abuse' and for exposing women and children to danger. It works the same way in any country."

"The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler in Mein Kampf

Thank you Lary and every one working so hard
to bring parental rights to the forefront.

One would have to ask about their stall tactics,Is it because of the incentives they receive under SS Title IV D-E ! If not then Why would politicians, legislators in Mich. or in any other state of America perform delay and stall tactics as well as refuse to recognize parental rights which are fundamental unalienable rights not legislatively developed by those who sit temporarily in office.
I learned as a child in the 40-50's that in America The very nature of " our free government " makes it
"completely incongruous to have a rule of law" under
which a group of citizens "temporarily in office" can
deprive another group of citizens.State government exercises of parens patriae power are also subject to the United States Constitutional system of Ordered Liberty. The child(ren) are not the mere creature of the state
Therefore Mich.House leadership do the Right Thing Protect Parental Right and stop your delay and stall tactics.

The family courts are VIOLATING the CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES.

    This is ILLEGAL!

The U.S. Government violating citizen RIGHTS is ILLEGAL!

    PERIOD.

It becomes heinous when OUR children (not the States children) are USED as the instruments of extortion.

It's time to PROSECUTE corrupt officials. To the FULL extent of the LAW.

Praying for the day that the government stops trying to 'parent' 33 year old parents. I home school my kids because the government wasn't teaching my daughter. My other 3 children have never stepped foot in a traditional classroom. My children pass STARR testing and are pulling fair grades, but learning far more that their comperable age mates.

I have been accused of social neglect because the people on the outside looking in are sure my kids aren't socialized. Other parents are surprised when they find out my children are homeschooled because they are 'normal'.

The only child with problems is the only one the government is 'helping'. They have pushed her to the edge of sanity.

Alex Baldwin has it right and will be the beginning of the end for the family court system today. The family court is a useless, ethical cesspool optimized to extract as much money from the crisis of divorce as possible. All its techniques are the opposite of what would be done to resolve issues and benefit families. It cuts off communications, builds paranoia, and assumes the worst instead of proof of guilt being required. All this is used to unconstitutionally terminate parental rights to insure a $78,000 legal battle (average reported by The Wall Street Journal). The entire system is a scam by lawyers to plunder the estates of divorcing couples using children as bait. It is RICO fraud as they intentionally create problems to drive up legal fees. I do not think 2% of divorce lawyer have ethics or care about the damage they do. They perpetuate myths of it being the family while creating the problems in subtle ways. The judges are criminals, breaking the U.S. Supreme Court requirements for “clear and convincing evidence” for any LIMIT or termination on parental rights. The clock is ticking. Either these people will change to create value and help families or this $50 billion industry will disappear and be replaced by a better system. It is causing about $1 TRILLION per year in damage to children and families today. In fact sole custody, which judges award 85% of the time is child abuse, making the judges the most prolific child abusers on the planet.
There is not a single research study the says sole custody is good and hundreds that show equal parenting is better by 6 to 24 times by EVERY measure tracked over 5 to 20 years. Of course this is also common sense to everyone who does not make money off this destruction. See http://www.BestInterestOfChildren.org

One of the biggest aspects of the current system, as far as innocent until proven guilty, is that Divorce/Custody cases are a hybrid, somewhere between Civil and Criminal law. The lack of onus on proof needed fits into the Civil side. On the other hand you have the Criminal Law side, or at least seemingly, that seek to enforce Civil court findings more than any other Civil case.

My best friend had a son with a lady he married, and she basically flipped out and took off to North Carolina. He tried to get the law involved, since that is a big no-no, and he was told he would have to get a lawyer and petition for it in court, then deal with the layers of garbage to get extradition done. They basically told him, tough luck, son, but you will still be owing the $800 a month for support. I have known him for nearly 30 years and I know he is not a dead beat, and only wants the best for his kids, but here we are 5 years later, he still pays 800 a month, and hasn't seen Timmy since he was 9 months old.

There needs to be Good laws regarding this area. Currently its all or nothing, good or evil and painted with broad strokes. What should be happening is these courts, and their trustees should, if nothing else read the files and find out whats going on.

Here's my story in that regard: My oldest son is now 22 yrs old. I became disabled while he was 17 and I was still owing $1800.00, with zero income of my own. My at home family of 5 scrape by on $16,000 a year gross that my wife earns. In my state my wife is not liable for my support.

The first court trustee I had was a marvelous lady, she would put off hearings over and over as long as I kept them informed of my status. Then I got a new trustee, who was threatening prison to me. I told her she might want to think that over since I have over 1,200 bucks worth of meds a month (for me covered by insurance) and need a hospital bed. She did not care. My 22 yr old son called her and asked her to stop this. She did not care. I cant afford Christmas for my kids at home, again it fell on deaf ears, and she insisted on a hearing.

When I got there struggling with my walker, she lit in to me like I was satan himself, and the Judge chided her hard and asked her just how she thought a disabled man with no income could hope to pay this until Social Security gives him a hearing. He apologized to me and told her she had no business wasting the court's time with this.

He also cited that I had paid on time for 17 1/2 years without an issue, and she wanted to crucify me for being disabled for the last 6 months of my son's minority.

Sometimes the system works, but there was no reason for that hearing, and I have filed judicial complaint against her, and sent my correspondence with her, along with my correspondence with the reasonable trustee so they could see the history of this.

My name is Charles Wright. What the court system has done to me and my children is a crime. I could wish more people would stand up to the court system and stop this corruption from destroy our children. It seems the courts have influence other agencies into doing wrong from what is written. Even "Child Protective Services" have been affective by the court system or certain judges which have allowed them to have a deaf ear to a child's cry for help. The most amazing thing is how they can even silent the children from telling the truth. (Wright vs Wright) 06-800 DM
