Calls rise among Republicans for Sarah Palin to step down from GOP ticket
Sarah Palin faces the biggest test of her month-old candidacy with this Thursday's vice presidential debate, but many Republicans are already convinced the Alaska governor is not ready for prime time - and may never be.
"It was fun while it lasted," conservative National Review columnist Kathleen Parker regretfully concluded last week. "But circumstances have changed since Palin was introduced as just a hockey mom with lipstick."
Those "circumstances," Parker and others are now saying, include not just the Wall Street meltdown - a crisis that seems to cry out for seasoned leadership - but also Palin's choppy, tenuous, even unintelligible answers to the few questions she has fielded on her own.
Palin's interview last week with CBS' Katie Couric is Exhibit A - a frightening glimpse, say fans and critics alike, into what happens when Palin is allowed to speak without a script.
"It's very important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia," she told Couric in explaining why being able to see Russia from Alaska should count as foreign policy experience on her résumé. "It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right next to, they are right next to our state."

Palin is the best and greatest thing in politics right now, In like her because:
1. She is a babe. I'm a 46 year old guy, she looks great to me. Would you rather look at Joe Biden on TV?
2. She is a very well liked Govenor, in an era when Politicians have very low approval ratings.
3. She is a super mom, 5 kids, wow. Did I mention she looks great?
4. Her husband is cool.
5. She is not a Feminist that trys to whine her way into power or special benefits by hysterially pretending to be a victem or attacking men as villians. She just earned it.
6. She is smart, and especially in a clever, simple, folksy way.
7. She endears trust, something very much lacking in Washington.
8. Her kids are great, that says a lot about her.
9. She shoots.
10. She comes from about as far away from Washington as you can get.
I still haven't decided who to vote for president, Ron Paul seems to make the most sense, crazy as that sounds. I really like the Obama concept about Change, but careful reading of his blueprint suggests it is all about cradle to grave subsidy and dependency on big government, with typical ACLU advocacy of justice, equality and rights that begin and end with women and minorities, leaving joe lunchbox out in the cold footing the bill. I really admire McCain the man and war hero, but he seems to be the poster boy for status quo and fubar Washington Politics, so I really don't know who to throw my presidential vote to.
Regardless of who gets my presidential vote, I am voting Palin for VP, for sure.

REAL MEN HATE JOE BIDEN. And like most Washington Politicians, he is disliked and not trusted by most americans. Approval ratings for congress are much below Bush, at the 10 to 15% approval ratings.
Palin's approval rating in her home state of Alaska is 82%!!!
and she looks good, too!

Fred - You are going to vote for her because she is hot, she shoots, you want to bang her, and her 17 year old pregnant kid is a sign of a good mother. Oh, and she is well liked in a state which is made up of mostly men who think with their little head, just like you...
You are exactly what is wrong with this country... voting for someone because they are clever and folksy. You sound as stupid as our current president, who was perceived as clever and folksy and got us into this mess, um... because ALL he is is clever and folksy.
Frickin idiots vote. That is the REAL porblem with America! We allow frickin idiots like this to vote!
Tell me sparky, how is this hot bulldog with lipstick going to help any single one of the crisis currently confounding our best experts? Is she gonna slam a beer and give them pesky national and international crisis a good folksy talkin to?
Frickin idiot!

It is Alaska, how hard do you have to work to have a high approval rating in a state with an extremely low population. Aside from Fred's reasons for liking Palin being two steps short of ignorant, I can find no reason to cast a vote for McCain/Palin and I am a card carrying Republican... even if I no longer live in the US [dual citizenship].
I watched the interview she did with Katie C. on the evening news and was simply shocked and how she carried herself post the brilliant speech she delivered during the RNC. I am convinced that McCain chose here only to sure up the female vote.

Aw come on let her have her debate, we will see the real average Sarah.
-
I kind of like Palin's approach in regards to her foreign diplomacy experience. I think Im going to drop out of school right now and start applying for jobs as a brain surgeon. On my resume under "experience", Im going to write, "I can see the county hospital from my house!" and "I own a butcher's block of kitchen knives!". I think this will go over well. Thanks Sarah Palin!
-
I honestly hope she stays so America can see what a fool Biden will make out of her during the VP debate.
-
PWNED! Palin is the worst politician ever.

Laughing my ass off in horror! "She is smart in a simple sort of way." ?!
I want somebody who is a hell of a lot smarter than I am in public office. I want them to be very intelligent and elite and a hopefully a goddamned genius. I don't want a regular guy; I don't want somebody who you can drink a beer with; and I certainly don't want a frigging hockey mom who interprets the bible literally and shoots animals from a helicopter. You have to be pretty frigging stupid to want somebody who isn't any more intelligent than yourself running for vice president. Do you like working for your boss if he is an idiot? Burn your bible and get some f@#$ing common sense!!!!!

I received my passport before Palin got hers.
Does this mean I have enough experience to be a Vice Presidential candidate?

She is the worst thing to happen to America. Even worse than Bush.
She wants to make ALL birth control, ALL abortions (including when a woman's life is at risk) illegal, and she turned down funding to teenage parents (we all know they're rich like her kid), and a bill that would've helped find dead-beat fathers who hide out in Alaska. Pro-family? Yeah, right. Pro-agenda.
And a month before accepting the vice-president nomination, she didn't even know what it is that the vice-president does. She even made rape victims PAY for their rape kits.
Remember, everyone, global warming is God hugging us closer.

If the Republicans really wanted to win, they would dumb Palin, and draft Ron Paul. That is about it, unless the right wing steals the election again.
-
How can you spin this
That's the game
Reality is a relative illusion of mutually agreed upon liesPalin is sexy
But so are prostitutes
She's an idiot
A mental midget if you willI was worried at first
She's garbage -
well im glad that some republicans are finally coming to their senses.
-
I'm looking forward to the debate Thursday. I can't imagine that turning out in any positive way for Palin.

Come on let her at least have a go at the debate. After the crash, we need a little comic relief. Popcorn, YES.
There is not one woman I know that is dumb enough to vote for Palin just because she has inside plumbing. We know there are many important deals made around the urinal. Hopefully that would leave Sarah out of negotiations?

I don't think McCain will let take her off the ticket. It's too close to the election and he'll look like he made a bad choice.
Let's enjoy the debate.
-
It's amazing to hear fellow american's put their sexual attraction in front of the important standards we should have for our leaders. To overlook one's ignorance on the global (and local) stage, incompetence in her current job, and overall confused/fudged interviews is appalling. This woman could end up being our commander in chief. This isn't a "Miss Alaska" pageant. This our future. The bar should be a little higher than "sexy for VP".
Maybe you guys were just joking, I hope...
This is a serious matter, not a swimsuit contest.
-
As nice as it'd be for her to step down, I doubt it will ever happen.
-
So I guess you guys are hoping Britney Spears will run next election...?
