In a useful update from Google Maps in the UK, the techie team have added live traffic information to major roads in England - though just England mind - no Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland just yet. This sounds like it could be a useful tool, giving updated information on conditions and possible delays for anyone planning a cross-country journey. No travelling North or West of the border though, which still makes my regular trips to Scotland slightly hazardous.
Now if only they'll start encorporating train/coach times... (though I suspect the system might explode, just as the UK transport site does periodically, from over-complication)
