This article is dead on and I think I've figured out why she looks so silly to us.She is 100% a creature of the late 80s, early 90s. Her use of language and gestures is straight out of 1990. And that's when it hit me.
Alaska is 10 maybe 15 years behind. Trends that are set here run their course and then we're on to something else. But those trends and ideas take a while to propagate to Alaska.
So along now comes Palin using words straight out of a game called "Bullshit Bingo". If you don't know what it is Google "Bullshit Bingo" or go here :
http://www.bullshitbingo.net/cards/bullshit/
You'll find not only a great game at work but also, amazingly Palin's words.
Stated simpler, there was an idea back in the early 90s that you didn't really have to know subjects very deeply. That all you really had to know was the "Lingo". So for example, you could walk into a meeting, throw out a bullshit line like, "We're going to effort mission critical issues bringing customer relations management on board to more fully monetize the objective."
People would nod their heads, you'd be put in charge, just wonderful.
Problem is that people finally realized they were promoting morons and this was costing them a lot of money. And that brought an end to the good ol' days ... in the lower 48.
But watching Palin, it's dawned on me. She's no clue that we've been there, done that. We see these folks coming a mile away so now when we run into them and they spout off some bullshit, we say, "Cool. Exactly, how do you intend to do that ?. Give me details." At which point they give you that far away, "I just got caught making a poopie" look.
That's when we find that Sarah Palin's depth is ... surprise ... not there.
But she is a Bullshit Bingo player's dream. Last night watching the debate the tension was palpable as several players had only one more square to fill before Palin finally said "quasi-cave" thus causing my neighbor to cover her final square and shout, "Bullshit !" giving her the final win of the night.

that's probably why they chose her - she's so far out of the loop of the real world, she'll agree to or say yes to anything - so the Bushdom will continue with McCain leading the charge and Palin following along behind and dusting up crumbs and fluffing pillows. scary. and what if mc cain doesn't make it through four years? he looks like he has one foot in the grave and the other on a skateboard. Prez palin? yeeeeeeeeikes!

If you've spent time around Current you'll have noticed that JohnA joins with a select group of hapless and zany anti-Obamanauts who can neither think straight nor bother to find a dictionary before unleashing infantile ad hominem broadsides attacking your character, patriotic fervor, and emotional depth..
It's like being freighted back to public school.with the usual melodrama: school yard goons taunting the usual little guys.
Should the words 'summa cum laude' and Harvard Law connect [and you see - good lord, I can image the brain power, work and sweat it takes to earn THAT distinction!] well, that settles it! You're really really BAD! Education is wicked.
You must be evil incarnate, doctor, vindictive and elitist, filled with venom and hate, for it is certain to them - you are an America Hater.
Syllogism - high intellect = must Hate America.
Corollary - mopey dopey = must Love America
Proof - they can't see it any other way.Question: Who would America prefer as a suitor? The polls so far are with Obama.
What seems most difficult to cope with for these guys is knowing that others can refute them merely by reading their own words back to them. At that point they must attack MOTIVE. Since their understanding of human life is so narrow and biased, there's no where else to go. They know their arguments cannot be improved upon so instead it's back to Solipsism: since all enemies are inferior they must refuse to believe you could know anything more than the most any enemy could perceive...
What criticism would awaken in brighter sparks - look guys, you need to make better arguments - is this
a/ you have offered no argument worth the word. do better.
b/ your attacks help convince undecideds NOT to vote for McCain\Palin. rethink what you want to do.
In short they are Senator McCain's and Governor Palin's worst examples of advocacy and incapable of understanding how that could possibly be..

pennyharford.
In 1965 a minister wrote a book about the cartoon character - Charlie Brown - in the comic strip "Peanuts."
It was called "The Gospel According To Peanuts".
Do we need a revised version?
"The Gospel According To Dilbert".
It seems like everyone reads the strip. Everyone identifies the characters with people they know and work with. Everyone recognizes the incredible dysfunctionality of the cerebral snakepit we call the corporate world.
The same world which is led by people with the same thinking deficits and attitudes of the Palins and the McCains.

John A writes,
"She looks fine to me, but I haven't given my life and soul over to Barack Obama as my Lord and saviour.
I'd really like to see a psychoanalysis of him.... When will he be given only half the scrutiny she has been put under."
Hyperbole aside, you're almost right.
People pay no attention to the intelligent - like a Harvard grad summa cum laude - except to resent them. That's about it.
Conversely people do not understand stupidity because the lack of basic thinking skills seems an absurd state to be in.
Confronted with people trapped a state of always doing the wrong thing, it makes us laugh. The deeper our understanding of how humans operate when at higher capacity, the more the behavior of say, The Three Stooges, has us rolling in the aisles. How could anybody be that DENSE!
Here's where you're right. As soon as people encounter lack of basic intelligence they look to psychoanalysis to explain its characteristics
- such as
- lying, getting caught, and lying some more, .
- leaving a town $20 million in debt and claiming that as executive experience
- abuse of office
- prejudice and abuse of others who simply don't have the same value-system as an Alaskan mayor.
- the refusal to give straight answers and then asking to be trusted.the list goes on.
Normally we just ignore dimly-lit, aggressive and overly pushy people because
a\ we don't know them
b\ we see that they are harmless
c\ they have no control over our lives. But when an eccentric as far into the twilight zone as Governor Palin runs for the second highest office in America it raises questions.
Why is Jane Six-Pack, [so perfectly content to be a hockey mom and everyday millionaire] running for public office? Reform? The more her record is checked the less reform there is. And the less credibility for smarts she can claim.
A Hillary Clinton could walk into a room and within seconds know who to tap, who to avoid, who to stare down, and who to schmooze by pushing the right cognitive buttons.
Governor Palin doesn't know what a Vice President does and doesn't understand page one of economic military or foreign policy. That makes her a high risk if overseeing any such policies. She has no basis for weighing let alone making such decisions.
Worse, Governor Palin already has stated she wants more power in the VP's office.
That's like a gas-jockey saying, 'I wanna build me onea them nukulaer reactor things to run my basement train set.'
That's shrink territory. Or Three Stooges.

I read the "psychoanalysis". Why doesn't this site have any kind of quality filter?
The artical was pure opinion. It had nothing to do with psychoanalysis. I guess the author considers anyone who does not speak his lingo as mental.
Actual if you read between the lines, the artical is more cridical of the author, then Sarah.
The author sounds like a term from the 60's which was a pseudo-intellectual. The term pseudo-intellectual was a term for person with a little bit of know, or enough knowledge to make him dangerious.
The pseudo-intellectual, who wrote this artical used the term like "psychoanalysis" to make his opinions sound relevent.
Then he uses a half baked observation concerning Sarah mannerisms. Claiming that her mannerisms were out of the late 80's and early 90's.
Did you ever think, that Sarah was being herself?
I read the artical our pseudo-intellectual states "is dead on" , and there was not mention of psychoanalysis. The artical stated that Sarah was character from a George Saunders story about doppelganger from another era.
George Saunders stories are about people from different era's. I guess like the sitcom "Happy Days". My responce to this is "So what?". I do not understand what is wrong with Sarah's mannerisms.
It sounds like a strange way to condemn Sarah. I guess Sarah can not be herself.
There was another person who burst on the political scene, with that same home spun style, his name was REAGAN.

First let me state that your comments are getting better.
However...
"I do not understand what is wrong with Sarah's mannerisms."
It's pretty fucking simple, they make her look like an idiot."I guess Sarah can not be herself. "
See above."There was another person who burst on the political scene, with that same home spun style, his name was REAGAN. "
Only difference is Sarah Palin won't have a Nancy backing her up. - 1 year ago

JohnA:
Has it not occurred to you that she is criticized exactly because she f**ks up every time she tries to utter a phrase or God forbid an actual sentence longer than "You betcha" or "dog gone it." And while Obama is not in any way perfect, he has demonstrated that he is intelligent and speaks in complete sentences which are grammatically correct so that others who learned English can understand them. Not in rambling run on sentences that are ambiguous and could pretty much mean whatever you want them to mean. That is to say she is vague and vapid. You don't have to worship a person to say he makes sense. And you don't have to hate a person to say what the f***k did she say? Staying at the Holiday Inn really doesn't qualify you to do surgery, its just a commercial, John.

Want a little cheese with that whine? It's very simple, the masses do not like anyone who tries to get by on cutsy little winks, insincere smiles and doggonits. We see right though that crap. She is out of her league. It's not hate. It's not unfair...voters do not like or trust her, that's all.
