ABC: Less than a week after the federal government committed $85 billion to bail out AIG, executives of the giant AIG insurance company headed for a week-long retreat at a luxury resort and spa, the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, California, Congressional investigators revealed today.

...AIG documents obtained by Waxman's investigators show the company paid more than $440,000 for the retreat, including nearly $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals and $23,000 in spa charges.

Just curious, as an american who is paying for this, how do you feel?

I hope that they learned how to give massages over there because I know taxpayers are going to reposes those massages, if they don't pay us our money back in the future.

I feel deceived, manipulated, completely powerless and completely fucked. In short, violated. Does anyone give a damn? No. The 2000 presidential election, the Supreme Court decision regarding that election, the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (and before that in Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Central America, The "Falkland" Islands (imperialist crap, that), the Savings & Loan bailout, my loss of civil liberties with the "Patriot" Act (talk about traiterous behavior), etc. I have honestly given up. Voting for Obama is LITERALLY my VERY LAST POLITICAL ACT OF HOPE. After this, I'm done playing the game. I really feel, as many do, that I've been abused for too long. This is truly it for me.....

    This just angers me.

I know that hotel, but am too prudent with my money to stay there. This IS one of the MOST expensive places to stay in Southern California.

Apparently these execs think it is life as usual at AIG, and our congress when bailing them out, put no restrictions on how the big wigs at AIG spend OUR money.

Lately, I always get the feeling, that my tax dollars and social security are being thrown out the window to rescue corporations that are greedy and arrogant.

They have great lawyers and lobbyists to get anything they want from Congress and keep on laughing at us middle class Americans.

Can some body tell me again, why did WE have to bail out AIG?

Well, I didn't hear about this bullshit shenanagin fest until the debate tonight and was rather horrified, though not surprised. This is some fucked up shit here!

Did these people really think that the folks waiting on them would not spill the beans? I mean think about it, if I were the masseuse on staff, giving massage to some self entitled BEEEEAAAATCH, knowing the situation, and knowing that I am ultimately paying for this service, my most immediate move after giving the massage would be to contact the press.

What fucking nerve. WHAT FUCKING NERVE MUST THESE PEOPLE HAVE?

They clearly were celebrating the fact that the gravy train had not actually run out when reality said it had.

And of course I agree with Senator Obama when he said that they should have to pay back the money and be FIRED!!!! Done. OVER.

    Just plain disgusting.

Having worked in New York finance, even I have to say that this was a completely irresponsible and arrogant decision.

These are not stupid people. And this is quite a bellwether of the sheer insolence at the executive level on Wall Street. Truly embarrassing.

I dont know why people think that voting for Obama will do anything to change this kind of stuff when he not only was for it, but he told all of us that we should be for it too!
The only way we are going to put a stop to all of this is to elect somebody that isnt "pretty" and may not make us laugh and feel good, and doesnt tell us what we want to hear, but has the brains and experience to help us. Somebody that has proven not with words but with action that he will fight for us. If we had any sense at all we would be voting not for the guy that we feel a connection with and want to have a beer with, but the guy that has already gotten things changed for us. You want CHANGE? Then vote for Nader. Dont believe me, look him up! Read about him! See just how many things he has already changed. And how many things he has spent his life working to change. It isnt "wasting" your vote, its making your vote really count for CHANGE! The first change I would love to see is the Repubilcans and Democrats finding out that they do not have a monopoly! That they can not rip us off and get away with it.......
