I take exception with the UN version of the declaration of human rights
There are passages that allow rights to be abridged by "just laws" and require one to preform some action for rights to be preserved
I prefer the way it was stated in the Declaration of Independence of the United States
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
not all the rights are enumerated but notice that the rights are "intrinsic and unalienable" and therefore are outside of abridgment by the law

I agree-- I think we have 'wasted' out time in our society protesting & engaging in activism over other issues that are not nearly as relevant as THESE issues of human rights & human dignity. So many of the issues we push for are personal in nature & should not be imposed on the general populace... people should decide personal issues by themselves... but human rights have been neglected to the millionth degree & It is growing more & more relevant daily! When we keep pushing for irrelevant goals (to the rest of society) we will continue to be ignored & I dont blame those who ignore us. But what really cannot be ignored??? This is that issue!

I loved this. I want to hug the person who animated the words. They brought them to life in a dynamic way.
Much of the world has yet to fathom these kind of human rights, but it would be amazing if the world was like that, and if America could go back to that ideal, I mean to really try to strive for that.
People get stuck in ruts, in social situations that are violent, or destructive. They can't get out or don't know how. We have to stop this. Now. Domestic violence has broken bones in my body and that is but a small part of what is broken on our streets. Gang violence is worse. Then there is random crap. (sighs)
I wish they would run this instead of political adds.

This should be broadcast everywhere.
I want to see it before I see a political figure on TV, I want to hear it when I call the DMV and am put on hold, hell it should play in all government buildings, at airports and train stations, before sporting events. We should not be able to escape the facts that are presented.

The message might be internalized, but not acted upon. Human desires will still supersede empathy. Idealistically, we as people want to be portrayed as compassionate and working for the greater good, i.e. humanity (evident by messages in religion and the like). However, countless years of evolution have reinforced the idea "better me than you," which subsequently translates into greed.
Or so me thinks.

Eleanor Roosevelt didn't write it, she was a member of the Commission on Human Rights. She certainly contributed to it, but she didn't pen it.
Drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Canadian John Peters Humphrey was called upon by the United Nations Secretary-General to work on the project and became the Declaration's principal drafter. At the time Humphrey was newly appointed as Director of the Division of Human Rights within the United Nations Secretariat.[7] The Commission on Human Rights, a standing body of the United Nations, was constituted to undertake the work of preparing what was initially conceived as an International Bill of Rights. The membership of the Commission was designed to be broadly representative of the global community with representatives of the following countries serving: Australia, Belgium, Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, Chile, China, Egypt, France, India, Iran, Lebanon, Panama, Philippines Republic, United Kingdom, United States, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Uruguay and Yugoslavia.[8] Well known members of the Commission included Eleanor Roosevelt of the United States, who was Chairman, Jacques Maritain and René Cassin of France, Charles Malik of Lebanon, and P. C. Chang of China[9], among others. Humphrey provided the initial draft which became the working text of the Commission.

Thanks for putting this film up LS. Human Rights still an utopia Today when our government by force do in reality all the wrongs in our Community and to us personally. Since 2000 I have never experienced personally so many human violations all together. So many human rights violations in the City that was the birth of the human rights movement.
