Being true to faith means not voting for Obama?

Image...
"Many recent letters to the editor claim that voting for a pro-abortion candidate (Barack Obama) is consistent with Catholic teaching, because his positions on other Catholic social justice issues offset his support for abortion. Not true.

On Sept. 12, at the U.S. Catholic Bishops' Leadership Conference in Charlotte, N.C., Bishop Robert Vasa clarified the church's position on this issue: "The conditions under which an individual may be able to vote for a pro-abortion candidate would apply only if all candidates are equally pro-abortion." Only then should candidates be screened for other issues to determine the lesser of two evils. The bishops clearly ruled that a "pro-abortion stance disqualifies a candidate from consideration by faithful Catholics."

Catholics do have a "choice" (pun intended) in this election. We can either be true to our faith, or we can vote for Obama."

Does anyone actually believe this? I'd like to hear from Catholics- is abortion the end all be all issue? Does your church tell you how to vote?
