Woman is shocked at Belfast hijack response

Image...
Debbie O'Brien has expressed her shock that other motorists did not stop to help her when her car was hijacked on Tuesday. The incident occurred on a busy road towards the south of Belfast.

O'Brien was sitting in traffic when a man got out of the car in front of her, opened her door and struggled with her before driving off in her vehicle.

The woman said only one couple stopped to help.

I'd be shocked if no one helped me too. But at the same time, I think as a whole we've moved towards a more individualistic and self-interested society. For one reason or another (safety concerns, time issues, etc) we see fewer people reaching out to strangers. It's sad.

Many are not willing to sacrafice themselves for others. So out of fear they drive off and try to put it to the back of there minds.
