DailyFix
Argentinian comedian turned singer-songwriter, Juana Molina sits in on the Daily Fix to fill us in on the birth of her 5th and latest album, "Un Dia." Find out what led Juana to ditch her success and superstardom as the leading role of her very own show, popular Latin comedy, "Juana y Sus Hermanas," to pursue a new career as a "serious" musician in the very competitive Los Angeles area. From scatting to almost lyrical silence, she describes her thoughts on this new album, how it is different from her previous work, and what inspired her "one day" lyrics.

The Daily Fix is the first music blog on TV airing on Current TV. The 2-minute daily music news show delivers cutting edge music news and insightful opinion in compelling short doses, utilizing MP3's and user-generated video from all over the web. Hosted by Douglas Caballero, the show airs daily at 9:31am, 1:31pm, 5:31pm, 8:31pm, 12:31am, 4:31am Eastern Time and can be found online at current.com/dailyfix.

    • Oh yeah!

And I don't speak Spanish but it doesn't matter because Juana Molina's appeal is that she makes everything she sings sound so gorgeous. So, when I was entertaining new Spanish girlfriend and stuck on one of her albums thinking it was great chilled out breathy seductive acoustic music that would win me points for being all global citizen, I was heartbroken when she got creeped out and told me I was playing songs about dead people in graveyards.

    • I saw Juana Molina play in London at Bush Hall in 2003 or 4 and she was incredible. Maybe top 10 gig stuff. Then I watched her play again at the ritzy in 2006 and she'd filled her act with loads of really irritating jazzy scat that padded out her songs for far too long and totally ruined it for me.

    • I think it's the soul that defines the music... if you have any doubts about this then listen to any soulful artist, from Santana to Beethoven. one without soul cannot write good music. Listen to kid rock or limp bizkit or most pop artists to test my theory.

    • CURRENT, YOU'RE FRIGGIN AWESOME!!

i was SO shocked when i found this on current! i usually go into the depths of myspace music obscurity to find new and interesting music, and one day i had found juana molina (along with other incredible south american music)! i'm going backpacking through south america next summer and hope to see her then.

"un dia" makes me feel warm and happy when i hear it, and i've added it to my morning play list to start my days. i'm a HUGE FAN!

thanks again, current, for staying soopa fresh!

    • Her website is nicely designed to mirror the mirror of her newest album cover. Her music is not quite what I'd expect from a comedic actress, which makes it that much more interesting.
