Even the most conservative of Republicans might vote Obama.
I believe that after 8 years of Republican policy, that has failed them, most conservatives might vote Democrat. Republicans might say to their friends and even to their spouses that they are voting for McCain, but come voting day, when they get their ballot, instead of thinking about Obama's skin color, they will think about their own personal income. Will they vote for McCain, who has no real plan to right the economy, or will they vote Obama, who literally has a plan to fix the economy that you can read on his website. I believe the American electorate will be voting with their wallets during this election. I also believe the vote will be the final referendum of the American people's opinon on the Bush administration as a whole.
I believe that many of your friends want to appear loyal to the Republican brand, or they might just be flat out racist when saying why they are voting for John McCaon, but come election day, do not be surprised if you see an overwhelming landslide victory for Sen. Obama. If the election is not stolen, again.

An interesting theory indeed. I have noticed many candidates who would be conservative in anyone's book coming into the arena as democrats. Could this be signalling a reverse of course? Much stranger things have happened in the political arena.

Well, the Bradley effect is actually overblown. I read a really good editorial in the New York Times the other day by a guy who worked for Bradley's campaign and he said that it was actually absentee voters who caused a last-minute upset, racism wasn't too much of an issue. The exit polls weren't indicative of how many people were voting Republican because of all the absentees.
That being said, I think this blog makes a really smart point. I know plenty of Republicans who would act just like that. Since the majority of their political opinions are more or less tribalistic, they definitely don't admit things like that.
In that sense, maybe we're approaching an Obama-style Reagan Revolution. Hopefully anyway, it would be so nice if we could smash these ridiculous conservative memes in our culture brought about by that criminal fool.

America always votes its wallet. However what I am truly afraid of is that this election will put the john Birch, secessionist and KKK crowd against the wall and we will see terrorism in the US like we haven't seen for forty years.
Or what do you call lynch mobs and the white hooded fools?
Will we be thankful that the 3rd is in Georgia.... You can't tell the teams without a scorecard. right now.

I agree! I think people who live in racist areas will stay silent when they vote for Barack Obama. Many Republicans I talk to do not think Sarah Palin is qualified. Shes more of a joke to ordinary Americans.
The only way John McCain is going to win is if they cheat. Thing to remember is "they cant steal a landslide".

I have the charming luck of being born to a racist family and i can tell you first hand this is tru in some cases. My step mom has told me that she is going to vote for Obama but don't tell my dad.
It was one of the funniest family discussion in my adult life.

Could anyone be voting for John McCain for other reasons besides being loyal to the Republican brand or just being flat out racists?

I'm just asking. I had to stop coming on this website. The hypocracy and the intolerance were starting to rot my brain.

Bullshit, I know you.
You never even bothered to discuss anything with anyone.
Sure there are some hypocritical ass liberals on this site, but you were never a victim of their crap.
When someone pointed out a legitimate criticism of your position, you either shot venom, called them an Obama-maniac or fled the discussion.
If you want to have stubborn political opinions, that's fine.
But don't lie to yourself, you dismissed legitimate criticism to hold onto hateful opinions.
