Boosting Obama: independent voters, who back him over McCain by a 57-22 percent margin -- a 38-point shift toward the Democrat since the last poll in September. Both were conducted for The Miami Herald, St. Petersburg Times and Bay News 9 by SEA Polling and Strategic Design and The Polling Co.
The poll shows multiple hurdles are in McCain's way:
• He is losing in Southwest Florida, a once-reliable Republican base. And he's ahead in only one region: conservative North Florida, by 7 percentage points.
• Obama has tied McCain among voters over 65 years old. They backed McCain by seven more percentage points than Obama in last month's poll, which was taken just as news of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy precipitated the economic crisis.
• Only 35 percent of Floridians polled say McCain demonstrated more leadership during the crisis and has a better plan to fix it. Compare that to the 45 percent who say Obama demonstrated better leadership and almost half of all voters who say Obama has a better economic plan.

It's amazing what can happen without Jeb Bush to f*ck things up.

I grew up in Fla - I went to school there during both of those elections. I tell ya... it WAS effed up.
And I can assure you, people in Fla really don't want to make the same mistake twice!

Been canvassing in southeast Florida, and Obama supporters aren't hard to find! The unfortunate thing is that some south Floridians simply refuse to vote now because of all the recent election screw-ups. They are totally turned off to the whole concept of voting. No matter what you say to them, they won't budge about it.

The more we look at the polls on a daily basis, we feel that Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden are on their way to the White House.....

samhouston and kennymotown,
On the day Obama wins the count, after all the tricks and obstacles the old guard will wedge against him - then I'll stop worrying and leave the stats to history.
Till then - we gotta get out the vote and make sure it's counted.

Why wont obamas camp do any more interviews with the local station in orlando fla. It seems that they asked obiden some questions that were a little to hard for him to answer. or a little to revealing for him to answer.

"Twice last weekend, Biden grimly warned at closed-door meetings that a great crisis is coming early in the term of President Obama:
"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. ... Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said … we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
A "generated crisis"? By whom? Moscow? Beijing? Teheran? "
Don't know what to make of that. Sounds scary.

ihatethemail asks the amazing question,
"Why wont obamas camp do any more interviews with the local station in orlando fla. It seems that they asked obiden some questions that were a little to hard for him to answer. or a little to revealing for him to answer."
Why would anyone, at any time, feel obliged to do more interviews in Orlando than anywhere else - in an election campaign?
Is Orlando now the Athens of the south? The universe spins around Orlando, when not around Fairbanks? Is that too revealing to you?

Can't figure out what crisis might lie ahead, even after Bush warned about the very same thing?
If you aren't too busy, why not read the financial press?
Or think about how many more banks can fail.
Or watch as the stock market heads for the bottom.
Or ponder the number of mortage foreclosures with people losing their life savings and the affect of that on the economy..
Or the number of jobs being lost, businesses abandoned or shipped overseas.
And then there's the prospect of another war - for John McCain - with Iran. And that will kill the economy and hamstring the military - for sure.
That might give you a clue. No?

AveryMoore. When obamas camp canceled a interview they had already scheduled to do because the interviewer asked questions that the camp thought to be unfair I call that chicken sh*t if they are afraid to answer tough questions now it really makes me wonder what type of president he will make.

Lets hope this poll i accurate because if he manages to take Florida its over.
-
If you go into Coral Gables, it is definitely McCain country. Cubans are surprisingly Republican, if only because of where the Republicans stand with the Cuban government, and if you drive just two hours up, you are in the south, which is also very Republican. The closing gap could be due mostly to new voters and first time voters, which shouldn't be confused. Its gonna be tight.

GO VOTE DONT GET COMFORTABLE, SPECIALLY IN FLORIDA AND PENNSYLVANIA.
I know there are some central floridians watching these boards, GO AND VOTE AND STOP WATCHING CHANNEL 9
-
yeah vote obama. only idiots will vote for him, and well i think there is enough of those here to accomplish that.
He wants to
-redistribute the wealth
-Dictators want him to win the election (he'll fit right in)
-let babies be killed that can still survive on their own
-has no legitimate alternative energy plan
-his wife has a political agenda of her own
-wants to tax major corporations (you know the people who built the computer you are typing on to respond to this, or the cell phone that you use to meet up at obama rallies)anyone who understands simple economics will know that if you tax the wealthy and large corporations, they won't pay it. we will. We will pay more for products and services we want or need, or they will take the easy way out and move to more business friendly countries (major job loss in america).
guess if he wins i can move outta here. i'll just go get a job in a country that appreciates capitalism, not communism.
If you disagree with me throw away your computer, your job or anything else that is related to an "evil corporation" because i just wouldn't be able to take you serious.
