MoveOn.org Political Action: Sign up to volunteer for Obama from Al Gore

Dear MoveOn member,

I know something about what can happen in close elections. And we've only got 8 days left to make sure this isn't one of them.

We are witnessing history in the making. Millions of young people are getting involved in politics for the first time. A leader named Barack Obama is rising up to unite America behind his vision of progressive change. Yet we know from 2000 that progress is not inevitable. Victory can fall just out of reach. And the difference of a few thousand votes can put our country on a decidedly different path.

That's why I'm writing to you today to personally ask you to volunteer with the Obama campaign to help get out the vote this week. Everything we've worked for together hangs in the balance in these next few days. The Obama office in Portland still needs more volunteers and I'm hoping you can help. Click here to sign up:

I know that MoveOn members have the power to swing elections. In 2006, you made over 7 million calls—I made some myself—and together we won back both houses of Congress. And already this year, nearly 120,000 of you have signed up to volunteer for Obama in battleground states.

But the stakes this year are too great for any of us to sit it out. We're facing two wars and an economic meltdown. The climate crisis, in particular, is worsening more quickly than predicted and without strong leadership from the next president, we could face consequences right out of a science fiction movie.

Barack Obama will provide that leadership. But only if we all make sure he wins. Please sign up to volunteer today.

Illinois congress busy overturning our moratorium on nuclear power plants.

    More info here.

    (Our existing moratorium simply states...)
that no new nuclear plants could be constructed without the pre-existence of a DEMONSTRATED method for the disposal of the high-level radioactive wastes. There is none at present. This might seem logical to most people - one should know how to handle the waste before creating any of it! Yet rationality, public concern and conscience do not appear to be the strong suit of the nuclear industry ...

I am for Obama/Biden in the White House. Obama will be the leader the America needs. A vote for Obama is a vote to move on. A vote for McCain is a vote to move back. We must move forward, not backward.

I'm ashamed of Gore for endorsing Obama. It was especially sickening because it was right after Tim Russert died (?murdered?) and the announcement interrupted the coverage of Tim. Even Larry King on Larry King Live that night said it was "weird timing". This has since been removed from the transcript but I remember it well. This followed my post about Tim Russert being possibly murdered on current, known as Al Gore's site.

Here is the link to that story. Seems to me the Democrats are working across party lines to cover up 911. Obama better not pardon Bush and Cheney. And the Obama /Gore energy plan better not include nuclear and coal.

Very confusing endorsement when compared to Mr. Gore's own stances on the climate crisis and environment and his own words that "politics is toxic." Obama is not for a carbon tax as Mr. Gore is. Obama has an emissions reduction target (80% by 2050) that is woefully inadequate and has not once publicly endorsed Al Gore's 100% renewable energy in 10 years challenge. Obama supports "clean coal" which is a hoax and Al Gore stated it was an oxymoron like a "healthy cigarette." Obama has changed his tune about oil drilling and Al Gore has emphatically claimed he is against it. Obama thinks nuclear should be on the table, and Al Gore has stated it should not be a part of a climate change strategy for national security and economic reasons. Obama has no real environmental record to speak of, voted for the bill in Congress that actually gave subsidies to oil companies, and also wrote a bill in Illinois that allowed nuclear plants polluting waterways with toxic waste to "police themselves."

So I sure DO hope he IS talking to Obama because he needs it.

Nuclear power is not the answer. Keynote address by Helen Caldicott. States Obama said he will push for nuclear disarmament. Let's see no new nukes.
