The Miss South Sudan Organization is a non-profit organization that was found to promote education and seek global advancement for the Southern Sudanese women. Formed in February 2006, it was an idea to introduce Southern Sudanese women to the world and the opportunity to impact the lives of many. It is a thoughful process to teach and instill among all southern Sudanese, the value of unity among Southern Sudanese.
Miss South Sudan Organization identifies Southern Sudanese women in the US who exemplify beauty, personality, supremacy, talent, and intelligence. It aims to create new role models who through the beauty pageant will serve as ambassadors that will define a new South Sudan, enrich the beauty of the Southern Sudanese women and enhance a new strength, energy and spirit for the advancement of Southern Sudanese women.

    • It takes enormous courage, as well as beauty for these women to hold their heads up and walk with beauty, based off of how beauty is defined in this country. I thank God that they are not trapped in that eoro-centric mindset of thin lips and pointed noses. Everyone is beautiful.

    • These girls have been through a civil war. Now it's time to celebrate beauty and forget carnage.

      A group of 29 Sudanese girls from all tribes of South Sudan will compete in the third-annual Miss South Sudan Beauty Pageant today in Stone Mountain.

      Organizers expect 1,000 people to attend the pageant, which was held in Kansas City last year. One contestant is from Atlanta, four from Canada and the others from all over the United States.

      "South Sudan has been at war for many years," said Digol Deng, a local Sudanese. "It's very important for young men from South Sudan to organize a beauty pageant — anything that can bring something good to the South Sudanese in the United States," Deng said.
