Pictures of Iran may surprise you

Image...
These are all pictures of Tehran, the capital of Iran, a huge city with a metro population of 14 million. Here you can see the other side of Iran that western media does not want you to see. It's nothing like the news. It's not the demonized nation Bush makes it to look in front of the world.

It's a very nice city with great hospitable people and architecture. Take a good look at these people, and what visitors say. They're a lot like us. I, for one, never even knew what Iran was like and who Iranians were. Thanks to this set of photos I realize now I've been a fool to listen to the media.

I've seen similar posts before and I can't overstate their importance.

In the run up to a potential conflict we see less and less of the actual people who the conflict will effect the most - normal people. It's only with posts like this that we can undo the media blackout of every day life in Iran.

Instead all we hear are the fact that there are occasional public hangings and abuses of human rights - but people inside Iran will no doubt be hearing of the same inhumane treatment going on inside Guantanamo Bay. It's all part of the war game.

    These pictures are very important.

Listen I wish Americans would travel abroad more so seeing a country (wherever) that is beautiful and has interesting architecture is not amazing to them there are so many nice places in the world

Really cool post. Look at pictures of certain areas on Flickr and you'll see the same thing - normal people living lives exactly like ours.

They've got green trees? We've got metal trees here, painted green.

    And pretty girls!

The trouble is Western interests don't have enough monetary control over Iran to keep them subordinate - so they are labeled "terrorist" and a world wide smear campaign is leveled against the country - much the same way mcSame ol' sh!t, falin' palin' and Hasselquack are attempting to deceive you and I about Obama.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know the reality of how people live in Iran. They simply do not express things in public as we do. Everything is kept in the home, but they're no different than us aside from that... the reasoning? Iranians are very strongly religious in some areas and those people would be offended by the way Americans act, thus even your liberal iranians respect the desires of the elder generation.

WOW, pretty lame Post actually. Reality:

    - No, I was not surprised, clearly everyone is forced to wear a head scarf.
    - Every woman was with a Head Scarf.
    - I see a lot of buildings, just like Dubai, they are financed by Oil. You can see this today, OPEC countries are crying because they did all their projects based on high Oil prices and want nothing but MONEY.
    - Why are Renders part of the Images from the people that uploaded the files?
    - There was one woman in the Stadium pictures. A 6 year old.
    - Ohh! Nice 1970's pictures, there was obviously not a single remark that Islam was above anyone's rights and actually women walked as Queens with a crown as the only thing over their heads.
    - Look! On page 46 they show food in the Airplane! Something we lost since we were attacked by Muslim Extremists that made all prices of oil and flights increase to the top.

Obviously, the guy wants you to look at Iran by another way. He did not post a single Public beheading or Hangs. He did not post any Islamic attack to their own. He is a coward for hiding the reality.

    Let's look at the score.

    Reality = 1000
    Western Wannabe = 1

    Those roundabouts....

Do you post similar things about America or other Western countries for websites in China and Iran....Russia? You know to help their thinking of what is the Western world?

I've always wanted to go to Iran or Afghanistan. Mainly after I read about Afghanistan in the Kite Runner. How it use to look. One can blame America...fair, but it was also Russia who totally torched the place and altered it for the worst.

EVERY single country in the world has spots like that green picture there. There's not one city in the world that wouldn't have something beautiful about it. To think any differently isn't the fault of any media but the fault of the people for being to lazy to realize that they are not "sand" people and live in the desert or whatever is the collective thought.

There was a pod not too long ago that featured Iran. It"s just people living their lives from day-to-day. In the pod random people were interviewed. They all seemed to have one concern in common, "We really hope the US doesn"t invade us."

No one with any common sense would think that Iran and it's people are all as crazy as their leader. The Iranians love their beautiful country and if you talk to the youth. The only thing they would change is their government. President Bush has said many times. That it is not the people of Iran we have a problem with it is their government. A government that took hostages. A country that exports bombs and people to kill Americans. It is my hope that Iran is taken over by those who want a government that has it's citzens in mind first. Realize that civilization began in The Middle East. It is our jobs as fellow human beings to help free those under oppression. Would I like to see women have the right to vote, go out by themselves. Dress as they please, drive a car and any rights that has been given to them by God not by man. Yes I would love to see that. But life is not based on my experiences or wants. People of the world want America to be there when trouble breaks out and out of their country at the same time. When we do nothing the world cries and when we do something were being a bully. Well they can't have it both ways. It is my hope that Iran is never attacked. It is also my hope that a nation lead by someone who wants to put Israel in the Red Sea doesn't have nuclear weapons. You think 9/11 was scary. Let a dirty bomb go off in NY and it will be many more than 3,000 American losing their lives.

You don't see these things this is true, i suppose that pictures of nice places and people doing well maybe just isn't news. Thankfully the internet and such make it so we can see the other sides of these places.

Iran is simply beautiful, the media will quickly hide that, and assume its dirty, poor, and crazy...America boasts itself all the time: thinks its the best, strongest, fabulous, and its never once thought about how other countries look like..

Why would pictures of Iran surprise me? I know enough to look beyond news outlets that film from war zones.

Rageh Omaar did an inside Iran documentary that showed what life is like Iran for the BBC.

Few Points from the show which I remember

. There is more Plastic surgery in Tehrain than LA

. Iran has the most dangerous roads in the world, and Rageh gave us a demonstration on crossing them

. Older Generation of Iranians when asked on the street believed that the Holocaust happened and it was 6 million and also the government should refrain from there so called studies into the Holocaust

. Young Generation of Iranians when asked claimed that they were not told much about Holocaust. Which struck a chord with me when people claim that Holocaust Studies is all about freedom of speech.

. Rageh was picked from the crowd by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to pray along with him and some type of media presentation.

Can't remember much more, intresting show though. By the way Rageh now does a great job at Aljazeera.

    This is great to post.

Americans need to put a face on the people they plan to kill.

They also should be reminded that there were nearly a million people in the streets of Tiran after 9/11 taking part in a candle light vigil for America.

What a beautiful land, rich with customs and history...
remarkable use and allowance for trees within city, constructing buildings around instead of through them, generating green spaces on every street it appears. What a dreamy place to visit! very cool architecture!

Im 81 years old and have seen a great part of the world and there is much beauty even in the world that George Bush would like to destruct. I have also watched a great part of Russia and Siberia aqnd believe me it it not the land of the Gulag any more. There are beautiful cities and it makes one wonder, why does an American leader crave to reap so much destruction all over this earth? It would be great if the people of this world could come together and enjoy these many places and scenes. Its time to create a world of peace and put these political radicals in prison.

Iran seems like a nice vacation spot, just not now with this whole "we might go to war with them" thing.

What I'm trying to say is, please don't elect McCain, this would be a cool(ish) place to study for a bit and if he wins, there won't be one

George "Bealzibub" Bush Jr's calling ANTHING evil
has to be considered for the credibility of the source and his ulterior motives. Bush IS the pot calling the kettle
    black.

Spread these pictures far and wide, not just for current.com users! We need to do everything we can to prevent our own government from demonizing people in other countries. They managed to do it with Iraq but only because Saddam was so easy to demonize.
