Well I think DeLorean "Dank" had it right with pressing the issue, but Mr. Gore should be less political with his answer. What he should have said was "Legalize it." Plain and simple make it available to all for healthful, spiritual and recreational uses and maybe we all will lead a better life. Thank you DeLorean for the question, hopefully Obama can change the laws, lets hope so!

So Al Gore is pretty much admitting 1. Alcohol prohibition was a failure. 2. Marijuana prohibition is rooted in is historical interaction with society. Let me remind Al Gore that marijuana prohibition history is rooted in racism against blacks and Mexicans. If the policy of prohibition is based on tradition not reason then the tradition needs to be abolished.

If nothing else, think about the tax revenue that could be generated if pot was legal and taxed. It would also free up the courts, prisons and other aspects of the legal system that are being tied up with pot cases. More than anything, I think it would end up helping a lot of people who are suffering from MS to depression.
I bet legalization would even help kick start a gardening craze. And people would end up growing, not just their own medicine but their own food as well.
The laws concerning pot need to change, period. Pot needs to be legal.

while i can certainly agree that the legal reprocussions from pot charges far outwiegh its potential to harm society, i cant say that I completely back legalization. However, because pot can be gown anywhere and could provide huge revenue and job possibilities (hey stoners...howd you like to run a weed shop?!) I think that the federal government should seriously get over its alleged detriments and try to see how to regulate it in a way that benefits us economically.
