Pacemakers and defibrillators of the future may be able to generate energy from the heart itself. Heatbeats could power a microgenerator, enough to power nearly 17% of the electricity needed to run an artificial pacemaker. This could mean longer-lasting devices and more options for circulatory regulation in the future.
