Fleet Foxes - Sun Giant + White Winter Hymnal - La Blogotheque Take Away Show

re-size
This is the first video of a partnership where Current TV will air exclusive Take Away Shows from La Blogotheque.

La Blogotheque founder Chryde descripes the shooting of the video:

It was in February, before their album was out, before they were praised by Pitchfork and others (including us). They had long hair, they were smiling, living in a van hippie-style, and they waited for Nate Chan and me on the parking lot of a McDonald’s, in an area of San Francisco hamming the flower power nostalgia. Pecknold was excited just like a kid after he found an abandoned gymnasium in a street behind. They played in the grass, hummed while walking. It was the before-the-success band. Carefree, unpressured, no heavy recognition.

Other Take Away shows to follow include The Dodos, Grand Archives, Emily Jane White and Quasi.

I live Fleet Foxes. I feel a kindred spirit with the lead singer who's a young twenty something raised by one time hippies on CSNY and the Band. It's also cool that he's drug free...

Wow. You really realize how talented these guys are when they can sound that amazing while standing in a circle in the middle of a gymnasium. I really liked them before but now that Ive watched this video I appreciate them as extremely talented musicians. I cannot wait until they come to the Atlanta area!

i picked up a guitar around eight years old, taught myself to play, a bass at 9, piano at twelve or so, and from there just about anything else. wrote many many many songs, three hundred or so, composing and playing all the instruments meself. well, one day i just quit. just up and quit music altogether, suddenly and drastically. it was right around the time where one could no exist outside the pain of 'crunk' music. lil john lurked around every corner, and well, just look at that and this era. this was, what? six years or so ago? then one lucky day i happened upon this performance whilst watching current tv. though ive been sort of anti folk, theres something about this that made me take a wet towel to the ivories. replace the rusted strings on all my guitars and ukes and polish off the harmonium. thank you fleet foxes, for bringing music, the thing that defined me for most my life back into it.
