Companies continue to create superior plants and animals by modifying its’ DNA, some plants such as the Taro (Kalo) Hawaiian, is part of the Hawaiian Culture as well as other Polynesian cultures including Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, and Aotearoa. One theory has it that the Hawaiian People emerged from this plant, which has been here long before America and because the introduction of GMO’s all over the globe. Plants that have such deep roots and cultural significance needs to be protected at all cost, Monsanto already wants to own all vegetation that it pollinates, legally. They cannot own what does not belong to them, just because they introduced chemicals to enhance the plant intentionally or not does give rights of ownership in my eyes. The government needs to really get this regulated so many people can see the negative side of GMO products. Hawai’i does not want GMO and does not need GMO, we have natural soil that is full of nutrients and do not need further destruction to our islands, people, or way of life. Please do not support GMO products in Hawai’i.
