It's a good idea, it looks great and I love the fact they're doing something different to make the city a more interesting place.

I know it's a "positive" message and all but I've never really been a fan of the Western Civilisation's obsession with reminding ourselves how dangerous our world can be.

We have an obsession with control, an obsession with the idea that we can stop things from happening if only we could exert more control over people. Some would call it progress but I call it devolution and mass scale micro management.

I suppose it's a double edged sword, on the one hand, maybe that raised awareness will save some lives, and on the other hand we all have to live a constant fear of death. The Think! campaign is a great example of that, it's message is akin to "your car is a terrifying machine, here is how terrified you should be of the consequence of it's misuse".

I'd prefer to live in a world where I am the master of my own destiny, where I'm not molly coddled into thinking a certain way or being frightened into wearing a seat belt. Where will it stop?

I've seen messages on the pavement in the UK that say "Look Right" just before you cross a road. How long until there are messages that say "sit down" above chairs, "eat me" etched into our breakfast toast and wide scale use of satellite navigation systems that turn us into mindless zombies.

"Turn left here, in 300 yards keep left"

We're automating our entire lives through mediums such as this one. When you automate a message, your response to it becomes automatic too - no thinking is ever involved you just respond automatically.

Where there are benefits I think we also need to look at the bigger picture. Do we really want to carry on like this?

To defend the UK's use of "Look Right" signs, I've been living here for over a year and still find myself looking the wrong way ...

But I do hear your point. I like the idea of a memorial, I'm not so sure how I feel about this one. Would be interesting to hear how the victims families reacted ... I'm not sure I would want my loved one's name walked all over

It's a beautiful idea, and shows that graffiti art can be used for much more than just tagging your local shops metal shutters. As for the victims, I think it's great that there's a memorial to them from people who perhaps didn't even know them, it shows a spirit of community.
