One solution to the global recession - prettier credit cards
http://www.eposcard.co.jp/campaign/100designcards/
Man, I wish I had a couple of these. I'd use them all the time. Bam, recession over.

Lovely cards. Why in the hell that can't just be standard is beyond me (the whole artists designing cards thing).
Also, that site made me want to wet myself and fall asleep (not necessarily in that order).
-
Well, if it looks pretty, I wouldn't want to swipe it under a machine.

I work in a retail store, and we just got the word in that some US companies will be printing "flat" cards- ones without raised numbers or letters. This is supposed to prevent credit card fraud, although how it's supposed to do that is very unclear to me.

I've got to admit, there have been a few times I've wanted to jump on those offers to put your own picture on a credit card. Take your own artsy picture and make your debt more unique!

I really don't think this will work. At all. My bank already lets me put fancy pictures on my credit cards. But it's tacky and just plain weird.

Interesting tactic. I'd get rid of my cash more freely if we printed bills with Bush's face on them... let's try that.

Is it me or is the apple/design effect make people lose touch with reality?
Luring more people to get credit cards is not a good thing IMO ... Using credit and living outside one's means = bad ... living within one's means = good ... JIMO
BTW, few of the designs were really 'spectacular' ...

Makes sense to me. Prettier cards mean higher fees and the banks get richer! yee haw!

Spend more money because your card is prettier...yeah fucking right. After the stupid bailout, i don't want to touch a credit card that's the next motherfucking ship that's sinking.

I'm rather fond of #92. It represents my life clearly! :-)

No. 53 is good!

I can picture it already: I hand my pretty credit card over to the server/sales person. comes back "sorry—declined".
