Sarah Palin turkey incident: does TV interview while turkeys are slaughtered in the background

Some videos you just have to see to believe. On Thursday, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appeared in Wasilla in order to pardon a local turkey in anticipation of Thanksgiving. This proved to be a slightly absurd but ultimately unremarkable event. But what came next was positively surreal. After the pardon Palin proceeded to do an interview with a local TV station while the turkeys were being SLAUGHTERED in the background!! Seemingly oblivious to the gruesomeness going on over her shoulder, she carries on talking for over three minutes. Watch the video below to see for yourself. Be warned, it's kind of gruesome.

When I eat meat I like to pretend it's always been dead.

It's painful to watch on so many levels.

As a leader in the most powerful country in the world, you must be aware of your surroundings at all times. There are so many landmines to avoid in the political sense, your steps must be well thought out before you jump in front of the media.

I'm so embarrassed to be an American. Someone lock this woman in her office and throw away the key.

Lol, really I could not stop laughing because it seems that she is so oblivious at all times.

There's nothing like the fun and levity of a good old turkey slaughter.

They actually snap the turkey's neck in there?

    Ugh...

This is gruesome? I expected gouts of blood spurting from the neck-stumps of the turkeys and the gurgling gobbles of their final moments upon this mortal coil while Palin blathered on about how keen every thing was in her corner of the world (...and thus, the whole of America as an homogenized culture).

    Now that would've been funny...

sorry guys, excuse me for not jumping on the bandwagon, but thats how it is.

she went to a turkey farm to pardon a turkey, well, there are other turkeys who were not pardoned. most of america eats meat, thats how we get our food, what's the big deal?

weve been doing the same thing for hundreds of years, maybe its good that there is a bit of truth in the news.

Oh dear God, oh please oh please God, Republicans, please, please keep this woman at the top of your party. Keep her in the spotlight, and realize she is truly the future of the GOP.

c'mon guys , be realistic for god sake , this is really silly and absurd, don't try to make this incident looks like a massacre , people are being slaughtered in front of the cameras without
being even noticed or commented on ,
besides how do you wanna to eat your turkey in thanksgiving ...alive ??????

Where was gruesome? Get real folks, in order to have your prepared turkey for your Thanksgiving platter, someone has to do what that man was doing. Ahhhhh, now America had to see reality for once. Get over it people. Where animals are raised for mass consumption there is someone cutting their heads off draining their blood. Ewwwww, nasty, ewwww, I can't eat turkey now, ewww. And the guy who said he is embarrassed to be an American, well there is a cure, you can move. Whiners, all.

    Oh, come now.

Hunting animals down, slaughtering them, and eating them is the reason we evolved such huge, powerful, beautiful brains. Not just the act of hunting - the nutrients found in meat are brain fuel.

All the vegetarian hominids died out after millennia of sitting on their asses and chewing grass. They didn't accomplish much, other than getting eaten by huge, hungry cats.

    Embrace your inner omnivore.
Where else are you gonna get your essential fatty acids?

    PS
Seriously though - if you're so deeply and outspokenly disturbed by this, but still eat turkey on Thanksgiving (or any meat, for that matter), then you are quite like the German townsfolk during WWII, who smelled the burning bodies of the people in the death camps, but pretended everything was fine and dandy. Shit or get off the pot.

i think this video is very telling about the blithe complacency people have regarding the origins of their animal products.

imagine her as vice president, conducting an asinine interview with the devastation of the iraq war as a backdrop. it's the same compartmentalized psychological state where you can simply repress and disregard natural feelings of compassion for those you exploit and destroy.

the GOP needs to wake the f up and get Ron Paul
to the head of their party.

    as for this video.. hahahahahaha

  •

    She is just being mavericky...lol

  •

Priceless! She's oblivious to the world around her - definitely presidential material...

This was totally a setup - that photog absolutely knew what he/she was doing. I guess even Alaskans like to capitalize on her complete lack of awareness of anything.

hahaha that's so funny, she's such a goon, how could she be so oblivious? and is her voice actually that screechy??!!

All I heard was 'goble-goble-goble' oh yeah, and the turkeys in the backround too..
